 Recess Shots
Posted by Jason 'FACE.UK' Sloan at 7:00 PM
Category: General

The Doomers Recess has updated with this:
I recently finished E4M4 for "2002 - A DooM Odyssey" with a little assistance for some error eradicating from team leader Paul Corfiatis. Turned out to be a very good level with a distinct Episode 4 atmosphere and gameplay. Even the name is truly Episode 4'ish: "Disreputable Stronghold"; quite a good name if you ask me...
On top of this there are a couple of jDoom screenshots as well.

 Karthik's Had The Paint Out
Posted by Jason 'FACE.UK' Sloan at 7:00 PM
Category: General

Be careful as you enter Karthik's DOOM Pages as there are still nails and tins of paint lying around. Karthik decided that the old place needed sprucing up and redesigned it. But that is not all as the Reviews Page has two new additions, both are maps of Wim Vanrie's. Terrere02: Spookyness Guaranteed and Dead Simple: Revisited. Read up on these and check out the new site at Karthik's DOOM Pages.

 Redesigns And Releases
Posted by Jason 'FACE.UK' Sloan at 7:00 PM
Category: General

Anthony Soto has update and redesign his page Swedish Fish's Doom Site. First of all there is an announcement of the release of Slayer by Richard Wiles. This was then removed from the site because it had rather a lot of bugs in it. But don't let that out you off a visit because there is other stuff to see including Top Ten SP Wad Releases of 2000 and a cooperative movie Laszlo Vecsei and Anthony did for The Classic Episode.

 The Darkest Hour
Posted by Jason 'FACE.UK' Sloan at 7:00 PM
Category: General

The Darkest Hour has updated with this:
I'm gathering ideas for Zkorpien and should have some pictures soon. Although it will be very different from A Hex on You, Zkorpien will have the same medieval scheme. I'm basing the architecture on well-known landmarks in Europe and the U.S. Oh, and as has been the case in my recent projects, Zkorpien will be for ZDooM.
On the writing front, I am pleased to report that my newest short story is complete. Based on E3M1, Hell Keep, it recounts the adventures of Cpt. Vladimir Ivanovitch as he plunges into the dark world code-named "Inferno".

 Karthik's Files Get Loaded
Posted by Jason 'FACE.UK' Sloan at 7:00 PM
Category: General

In fact they have been Uploaded to the Review Centre. We do not allow drunk wad files at Newdoom. You will have to use this link as the ones on Karthik's DOOM Pages still point to MGE files. Karthik is also in the middle of redesigning his site which will be done soon and so will all of the links.

 Brotherly Love
Posted by Jason 'FACE.UK' Sloan at 7:00 PM
Category: General

The Brotherhood Of Ruin site has updated with this information:
A week ago I ran into a dead-end with the final level and have been thinking a new ending for the level for a couple of days. Yesterday, it took form in my head and it'll take a couple of days for me to make it. Well, no boring demon-spitter ending this time. I'm completely fed up with the demon-spitter in the end of most multi-level wads that I've played so a no no for the demon-spitter in BoR. The final level takes place as map07 so that leaves me many options about what to make as the ending. I just lllloove those mancubuses. ;-) And then the final beta-test and after that, release!

 Wim's Mini Contest Opens
Posted by Jason 'FACE.UK' Sloan at 7:00 PM
Category: General

Before you get the wrong idea this is not a contest to win a Mini. Just thought I would clarify that. Anyway the new contest is now on over at the The Mole's Lair and this one was suggested by Albert Valls and is similar to the first phtga.wad mini-contest. The aim being to record an UV Max move of level 13, 14, 15 and 16 using a different weapon on each level (choose between 3, 4, 5 and 6). Shooting once with the wrong weapon is a failed demo, so be careful. The ending date is 7 october. catch this and more in the latest update at The Mole's Lair.

 Doomsday Engine Update
Posted by William 'Phoebus' Mull at 7:00 PM
Category: General

skyJake's Doomsday Engine has been updated to version 1.03. Here are the major changes:
*  Color-translated sprites had invalid texture coordinates (some sprites disappeared).
*  A warning is displayed if no IWAD has been specified at startup.
*  Multiplayer setup uses Small Fonts in low-resolution modes.
This new version is the same one that can be found in the newly-released jHeretic 1.0. Head to jDoom for more info, or directly to the Review Center for the download.

 Wim's Whopping Update
Posted by Jason 'FACE.UK' Sloan at 7:00 PM
Category: General

Wim Vanrie has updated his page with news that all of his files are now uploaded to the review centre. This includes his latest releases of Terrere 02 and Dead Simple: Revisited. The competition has slowed a little but that has not stopped Albert Valls sending in some demos and pushing Doug Merrill into second place. The new mini-contest is getting delayed slightly due to lack of ideas. So, if you have any, send them in to Wim. All this at The Mole's Lair

 More jDoom News!
Posted by William 'Phoebus' Mull at 7:00 PM
Category: General

Our friend skyJake updated the jDoom site for the SECOND time in one day! Here's the jist:

I finally finished writing the XG Reference. It's on the Files page in PDF format, so all you level designers get your Acrobat Readers at the ready! I added a couple of new features to the XG specification, so everything in the Reference isn't supported by 1.1 (ltc_sound, function chains and exact values are missing from 1.1).
Head on over again to the jDoom site, and roll the beautiful Extended General Line and Sector Type Reference footage.

 jDoom A3D Bugfix
Posted by William 'Phoebus' Mull at 7:00 PM

Latest news from skyJake over on the jDoom site, is that v1.1 has a bug with A3D support. It seems there is some kind of a conflict with fmod; so, if you're using A3D, use the -nofmod command-line option. Please see the jDoom site for more details.

 Very Real Day Of Infamy
Posted by William 'Phoebus' Mull at 7:00 PM
Category: General

I sat there watching the Fox News channel in abject disbelief as the towers imploded and collapsed like so many paper streamers. If this isn't a declaration of war, I don't know what is. We pray for everyone who has been harmed by these cowardly orchestrated terrorist attacks. I am confident that whatever steps need to be taken to make sure whomever the cowards are responsible for this will be repaid in force for bringing Pearl Harbor into the 21st century. All we can do is wait and see what happens next .....
