So if your into ZDaemon and like shooting your Doom buddies and haven't done so in awhile then hit the ZDaemon site, downgrab that jobby and get some frags before Monday arrives.

 Karl Urban Doom Movie Interview
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 10:20 AM
Category: The DOOM Movie

Over on IGN they posted an interview with Karl Urban in thier coverage of Comic-Con 2005. Karl plays John Grimm in the upcoming Doom movie and here is a taste from the article:
KARL URBAN: First came to the project… Well, first of all, my agent called me up and said "Do you know the videogame Doom? I went, "Hell yeah!" Vin [Diesel] and I used to play it all the time when we were shooting Chronicles. At his house, he has this massive, massive 10-foot screen. And she said, "Well, they are building… the facility in Prague and they want you to be the guy." And I'm like, "Oh, wow. Cool!" So she gave me the script and I was really pleasantly surprised to see how well-developed and well-structured the script was.

 Latest Doom Wad Station Updates
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 2:11 PM
Category: DOOM Wads

Sematary has some new updates on Doom Wad Station. First up Blue Paladin did up a review of Unconditional Elimination by Andy Badorek and according to his review the level is ugly action and ass whipping from the get go. Also Sematary was asked to review an older set of maps (three years old) that's called Alien3 by Alberto Sposito. Furthermore he also reviewed No Brakes that Lutrov71 and Cyber-Menace put together which he says is a challenging map with some tight quarters fighting and some nasty traps. Last on the list is a large map Sematary received that's called Doom Arena by Jonathan Farrugia. The author recommends Jdoom but it's playable in both Legacy and Zdoom and it might be worth checking out for a lan party.

 id Software Seeks 3D Artist
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:00 AM
Category: id Software

I noticed on Shacknews the fact that Kenneth Scott of id Software updated his Shacknews Finger with the info they're looking for a talented 3D environmental artist.
The applicant would be responsible for generating world textures, creating normal-mapped world objects, building set pieces, building terrain, and generally making a nuisance of him/herself in the name of game art excellence.
Check out that Shacknews Finger for the requirements and such.

 Doom Movie Set On Mars
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 12:02 AM
Category: The DOOM Movie

Game Cloud has posted up a Doom Movie Comic-Con Panel Report. The Comic-Con took place in San Diego and apparently there was a 90 minute teaser trailer shown. They're saying now that the movie will take place on Mars afterall.
Both The Rock and Karl Urban were fans of the original Doom game before signing on to play the roles of space marines Sarge and John, respectively. The Rock said he got to use the classic weapons like the BFG in the movie and he, Urban and the other members of the space marine cast got real military training from a former SAS member to make sure that they worked together like a real special forces team would. All of the panel members mentioned that they were displeased that other movie adaptations of games strayed so far from the original material and while the Doom movie does have plot and character elements that the game does not have it still will be very close to how the game looks and plays. The Rock said that he saw a version of the movie a few days ago and in his words “It really kicks ass”.
Have a look at that Doom Movie Comic-Con Panel Report.

 Demonic Stealth and Chicanery!
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 7:56 AM
Category: DOOM 3

According to Veteran animator Steve Bowler who works at Midway, id Software has lost it's crown and he's mad about Doom 3 (not in the good way).
Yes, I jumped. I was scared. And then I got tired. Tired of having secret panels open behind me after I’d already cleared the room of any possible beasts from hell, only to get clawed in the back. Who knew demons were capable of such stealth and chicanery? Hey, maybe I’ll open this door and--surprise!--here’s yet another instant 25 hit points removed from my health because an imp was waiting patiently for me to open a door. This isn’t gaming. This isn’t the Id I know. This is scripted nonsense.
There's 2 pages of this stuff so if you want to read it all just hit this page. Thanks to Aliotroph? for pointing this one out.

 Executive Quarters
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 7:16 AM
Category: DOOM 3

Just spotted on Doom 3 Files that there's a Doom 3, Single Player level called Executive Quarters by heXum.
While fighting your way out of the recently invaded UAC base, you find a door whose marquee reads "Executive Quarters". After a while of searching e-mails in your PDA you find the code to the locked door and let yourself in. The vice president of the UAC had just welcomed his family to the UAC base on Mars for a visit when the demonic invasion hit. You find his bloody body along with his PDA in the hallway to the visitor aircraft docking station. You learn that his wife and daughter might still be alive, but they are somewhere in the executive living quarters hiding from the monsters. You decide to take the time and search for them and hopefully send them back to Earth safely. This is where the map begins.
Check out Executive Quarters (nice lookin screenies).

 Station Locked
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 8:23 AM
Category: DOOM 3

Over on Doom 3 Files there's a Doom 3, DM level called Station Locked that's designed by Ice Weasel.
After the invasion on Mars was over and everything was brought under control by the marines, this facility was discovered near the equator of Mars. It was originally used as a backup teleportation facility, but the marines cleaned it up and kitted it out to be a training facility for any new recruits that arrived on the base.
Now might be a good time to check out Station Locked.

 Mantling In The Dark Mod
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 7:37 AM
Category: General

I just visted The Dark Mod and noticed that they mentioned sophisticatedZombie has successfully got mantling working.
The end result is that if you try to mantle onto a ledge where there is only room to crouch, the player ends the mantle in a crouch. If there is room to stand and you aren't holding down the crouch key, the player stands up at the end.
Check out The Dark Mod.
