In an friend sort of way of course. Anyway he has updated his .plan with this little titbit:
DOOM is up and running under 10.2, which as an OS is really quite cool (speed is much better than 10.1, although resizing a browser window is still painful).
Not much but what do want blood? You Do? Well play Doom then.

Also on Doomsday HQ is news that jDoom has had a small update which fixes the -deathmatch and -altdeath command line options. The package contains Doomsday 1.7.1.

 Doomsy Daisy

Doomsday HQ has some more on the Doomsday engine. This is now up to v1.7.1 and Skyjake hopes that it will solve some of the problems with the renderer initialization. The rest of the fixes are:
· WAV loader was broken. It was confused about chunk lengths and the WAV file header itself.

· Music definition patching didn't work. This prevented the Heretic MP3 soundtrack from working.

· Under some conditions, it was possible that Doomsday crashed during the loading of model definitions, due to excessive reallocation of memory. This is now fixed.
Grab the new version at Doomsday HQ.

I had an email from a gentleman called Mazedude who has a music page called Mazedudes Page. He has remixes of music from computer games. These include Super Mario Cart, Double Dragon and, I think we all know where this is leading, Doom II. Barrels Of Fun is the tune in question so if you like it pester him for more.

 Doomsday
Posted by Jason 'FACE.UK' Sloan at 1:16 PM
Category: General

Doomsday HQ has the latest incarnation of the Doomsday engine for you to download. The relative versions are Doomsday 1.7.0, jDoom 1.14.0, jHeretic 1.3.0 and jHexen 1.2.0. Now if you download this morning you will have to do so again as there were some minor bugs in the earlier version. These are as follows:
· There was no level music in jHeretic.
· In jHeretic and jHexen you could slide the volume sliders off the scale.
· Sometimes flares were drawn with the incorrect texture coordinate wrapping (appeared as a rectangular 'frame' around the flare).
· The short form of -file, i.e. -f, didn't work.
So head over to Doomsday HQ and read the full list of changes.

 Linux Purged
Posted by Jason 'FACE.UK' Sloan at 11:41 AM
Category: General

Purge has news on some Linux goings on for planet127. some .tar.gz download files and the various weapon packs have been added to the download section. Plus:
Some serious map editing has occured on my edge demo level Map01.wad it's now a fully functioning complete level with some tasty EDGE treats. Work is also underway on a second level to accompany it. Neither of these are available for download yet, so you'll have to make do with the demo Map01.wad for now.
Remember this is for Linux.

 Pre jDoom
Posted by Jason 'FACE.UK' Sloan at 10:15 AM
Category: General

Doomsday HQ has updated and here is what Skyjake had to say:
I've uploaded a PRE version of jDoom 1.14.0 to the /jdoom/unsupported directory over at Fourwinds. It can be considered a release candidate. I still need to update the documentation and write some new stuff before the 'official' release of Doomsday 1.7.0 can be made. So, if you're feeling lucky, grab the PRE version of jDoom and let me know how it works. Especially helpful would be to hear if the player turning multiplayer bug has finally been fixed. But be sure to install the PRE version into a new directory, since most of it is incompatible with the currently available binaries of jHeretic and jHexen.
He knows what he is on about does that dude. I would do as he says and grab the PRE version of jDoom and let him know how it works.

Kokak's Doom Page has some information on DoomGL. The development is progressing slowly but it should not be too long before a public beta is available. In the last update SlayeR forgot to mention that ZDoomGL now requires GL nodes. There are also some screenshots to look at on the forums and there are links to these from the main page.

- 3d-floors savegame fixed
- Object shoudn't fall through 3d-floors anymore
- Some other fixes for 3d-floors

- Some improvement in the Linux version (special thanks to Ludwig Nussel)

 Lost Doom Sites
Posted by Jason 'FACE.UK' Sloan at 5:35 PM
Category: General

Oh My Goodness here is a blast from the past. This should be renamed Lost Newdoom Feature. It was getting harder to find any lost sites but I have some for you now.
· Sven Olav's DOOM2 Page
Just some pics here of the wad of the month which appears to be from 1997. The link to the wad itself is no more but there is a link to 'Den Norske Doom-ligaen'. If anyone can understabd this let me know......Please.

· Nathan's Toasty Technology page
This page contains two levels for Doom. The first one is a megawad which pits you as a Martian terraformer stuck in a small station in the middle of nowhere and the other is a plain old megawad.

· Yonatan Donner's Homepage
Okay I know this is probably not strictly lost to some of you who may have it bookmarked somewhere but it has been a while since the last update and its full of Doom.
I will try not to leave it too long next time.

 Goodbye Ethh
Posted by Jason 'FACE.UK' Sloan at 5:42 PM
Category: General

Ethh's Doom Page has been updated and I am sorry to that I did not notice it sooner and here is why:
Contest has ended. i received 0 (zero) entries for it. i am very disappointed. i therefore retire from the doom scene, which i now believe is no longer alive except for a few die-hards who constitute the embers of the original doom spirit. the arrival of doom3 has changed people. as fascinating as doom3 may look, this is a real pity. 2 years ago, the same contest would have drawned tons of elite doom map editors. i won't speculate to explain this because it doesn't interest me anymore. chances are, you won't be hearing much from me except for a few compet-n demos from time to time. goodbye.
I myself have noticed the slow down in Doom news. Is the end looming for the original Doom? Let us know what you think on the Messageboards.

Also Cheb has released some new models and these can be checked out at the Modelyard.
