 Doom Movie Preview
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 10:04 PM
Category: The DOOM Movie

Over on Coming Soon they have a preview article posted for the Doom Movie.
While Bartkowiak has helmed several successful but relatively small action films, this is by far the largest and most complex project he has ever taken on. But with almost no sense of the pressure he's under, he has methodically gone about putting together what many involved have called the best action-horror film since Aliens.
Check out that Doom Set Visit Preview.

 Alice's Doom Enhancements (0.2)
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 10:23 PM
Category: DOOM 3

Alice put together (is a mod compilation dealie) what sounds like a good Doom 3 mod that decreases grenade bounce, increases chaingun clip to 200 rounds, adds light to machinegun, changes muzzleflashes and some other bits. Have a look at that Alice's Doom Enhancements (0.2) mod. That's all on Doom 3 Files.

XDelusion pointed out that Bernd Kreimeier went and ported Doom into Doom 3 so that it runs within a terminal in-game. So if you want to check this out it's best if you visit the Fully Interactive Surfaces site while I go get my coffee.

 Super Plasma Gun (1.0)
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 11:42 PM
Category: DOOM 3

music25 went and made a mod that makes the Doom 3 plasma rifle more powerfull.
This mod doesn't add a new weapon to your inventory - it just increases the power of the plasma gun exponentially; just spawn a monster and fire off a round of super plasma (I like using fatty zombies because it's hilarious watching their limp bodies fly around the damn place). And better yet, IT DOESN'T GIB!!!
So if you want a more powerfull plasma rifle then check out Super Plasma Gun (1.0).

 Resurrection Gets Netjak'd
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 6:23 PM
Category: DOOM 3

netjak has a Resurrection Of Evil review posted up on thier site.
There are no more dark corners to get jumped from, and no more deathly silence before getting shocked by some creature from the dark. All that remains are waves of enemies, ruining the whole feel that Doom 3 set up.
Here is that review.

Doom 3 Map Once Upon A Time
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 11:03 PM
Category: DOOM 3

Thomas Creutzenberg released a Doom 3 single player level called Once Upon A Time.
A different time, a different world... There you are. In the middle of nowhere. Your jeep just broke down next to the old complex which was invaded by enemy forces a long time before the eighth war. You need a new vehicle to escape... and they know you're here...
The map certainly looks interesting from the six available screenshots. Check that Once Upon A Time level out.

sm0k3r released a Doom 3 Multiplayer level that's called Blood Trail (1.0) which looks pretty nice from the six available screenshots. Also note that the map will run in both Doom 3 and Resurrection Of Evil and the only difference is the double barrel shows up in ROE. Check out Blood Trail (1.0) that's on Doom 3 Files.

 Resurrection Of Evil Half-Hearted Review
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:44 PM
Category: DOOM 3

I received one of those email jobbys from SciFi.com that has all this Sci-Fi junk (that's like saying 'stuff' and doesn't mean garbage) in it and noticed they did a Resurrection Of Evil Review:
In a world full of mediocre shooters, Resurrection of Evil would stand out simply for giving players a second peek at id's stunning visual technology, but we live in a world presently exploding with exceptional shooters, which makes Resurrection of Evil a half-hearted recommend at best.
Half-hearted? Ok..

 Is Resurrection Worthplaying?
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:36 PM

The peeps over on worthplaying.com posted a Resurrection Of Evil Review and here is a shot from the article:
The other tchotchke you'll stumble upon is actually in your inventory from the very beginning: the artifact.

Lastly there's anouther sitters Doom 2, single player, Doomsday map and it's called ChillerCastle. So check that stuff out.

Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 7:02 PM

The team for the Doom 3 mod HeXen: Edge Of Chaos updated with the news that they're indeed still working on it all.
We are very much alive and have been working in high gear while developing the project! As foretold, we have been having a full mediastop which will remain the case untill we feel ready to release. There are no downsides to this project and it's a great ride for all of us
Also they're looking for a mapping team leader to help out in that department.

The End Is Near For Doom Connector
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 10:47 PM
Category: DOOM Sourceports

Here's one that I just dug out of my spam folder. Stupid yahoo! heh. Anyways CodeImp sent in the news that Doom Connector will shut down at the end of this month:
We are sorry to bring you this bad news, but we all knew it would happen someday. Doom Connector will shut down at the end of this month because, quite frankly, some of us are no longer able to participate in the Doom online community. Doom Connector, despite it being an incredibly popular multi-port online community in itself, it is often in the middle of the fights and arguing between sourceports. Although Doom Connector was built solely to support the sourceports in their multiplayer capacity, our support has not always been appreciated by those who matter most. This however is only one piece of the puzzle; some technical and time issues have also played parts in preventing us from continuing to support this wonderful service. We thank everyone who has supported us, you have helped us making and running Doom Connector for almost 4 good years.
So there you have it... bad news for people who enjoyed Doom Connector.

 Resurrection On Gameshark
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 8:40 PM
Category: DOOM 3

Apparently it's Gameshark's turn to do a Resurrection Of Evil Review!
The campaign’s pacing, in a nutshell, can be summed up as “fast and furious”. Given its relatively brief development time it is understandable that RoE’s campaign is shorter than the original’s, but there’s still plenty of fulfilling content.
Go read that Resurrection Of Evil Review.

 The Megawad Awakens Or Something
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 10:32 PM

That crazy dude who runs The Megawad updated with some various stuff, most of which has nothing to do with Doom. It's still a hosted site update so I'll post the news just the same. Haha, time to go and play some Morrowind or get some sleep. Maybe tomorrow will be a good time to get back into mapping Doom?

Is Doom 3 On Xbox Worthplaying?
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 12:00 AM
Category: DOOM 3

Over at worthplaying.com they have thier version of Doom 3 on the Xbox review and here is a snip:
Vicarious Visions did a really good job because the Xbox port of Doom 3, for the most part, looks almost exactly the same as the PC version, which is an incredible feat. Naturally, the PC version is noticeably better, but it is quite remarkable for a four-year-old console to even come close. The most impressive and ground-breaking part of the Doom 3 engine is the lighting and shadowing system, which is also the part that demands the most resources, but Vicarious Visions was able to port that over, keeping much of the game's shadows and lighting fully intact.
Have a look at that Doom 3 Xbox Review.

Go get that Refueling Station and expect to get into some tough fights.

 DC Grabber Gun
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 10:44 PM
Category: DOOM 3

DC Doom made a Resurrection Of Evil mod that changes the Grabber Gun into a DC Grabber Gun that basically lets you pick up and store up to 12 items inside your gun. At first I thought this mod only changed the Grabber but on further inspection it also does other stuff like add lights to your weapons and make the double barrel fire one barrel at a time. Anyhow take a look at that DC Grabber Gun if you're interested.

 Certain Death
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 11:19 PM
Category: General

Blzut3 sent in the news that he, Maniac and gamebeat created a map pack called Certain Death.
The goal of certain death was to make a dwangoish map set using new zdoom and skulltag features. This means the the detail is lower then newer maps and more like the detail level of dwango5. Cdath1 zip file comes with a new color pallete allowing the player to correctly look cyan. The map is for skulltag.
Here is the direct linkage to the map file.

 Abandoned UAC Complex
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:45 AM

The level is called Abandoned UAC Complex, is for Doom 2 and is designed by Adam Mason. So there you go, some Doom 2 news for a change. That's all on Doom Wad Station!  Anouther Resurrection Review
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:08 PM
Category: DOOM 3

Ok so here we have anouther Resurrection Of Evil Review and this time it's geared up by PC Gameworld. Here is a piece of the article:
One of the biggest draws of the expansion is the addition of new weapons. The most entertaining new weapon in the game is the classic double barrel shotgun. This gun can only hold two shells at a time but makes up for it by being extremely powerful. Anything that you hit with the full power of the new shotgun will be torn to pieces. The sight of disintegrating demons is something that never gets old.
So go look at that Resurrection Of Evil Review.

 Doom Movie Screenshots & Info
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 10:30 PM
Category: The DOOM Movie

Now for a shot of Doom Movie news. It seems that gamespy.com went and posted some new info on the film including three screenshots that Universal recently released.
Although the movie has traded the Martian setting of the game for an unspecified planet, the photos show a setting not far off from the dark futuristic settings of DOOM 3.
Go ahead and read the rest of that article.

 Resurrection Gets Adrenaline Vaulted
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 10:15 PM
Category: DOOM 3

On The Adrenaline Vault there's a review for Resurrection Of Evil and here is a small clip from said article:
Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil contains a robust a single-player campaign. Although most of the levels involve traversing closed dark corridors, as before there are more open areas and occasional outdoor scenes (where you have to conserve you oxygen), certainly a bit trickier to navigate this time around. Compared to the original, because of the designers' intentional insertion of varied environments and challenges, there is less of a chance that anyone would feel that the levels are highly repetitive.
Have a look at that Review that's three pages of detailed info on the expansion.

Doom 3: Apocalypse - The First Wave Alpha
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 11:17 PM
Category: DOOM 3

What happened to all the non-Doom 3 news? Anyhow DOOM 3: Apocalypse - The First Wave (0.1.0) is a Doom 3 Multiplayer team based mod for Resurrection Of Evil that has demons vs marines. This is the first Alpha release of the mod so we can expect more work to be done on it and stuff:
Demons will be able to choose from various forms (Imp, Shade, Revenant, Archvile etc...). Marines get to buy guns and equipment. The objective of the game is to complete your team's objective, which is map based.
The game modes in the mod are Lockdown, Objective, Capture the Artifact and Evacuation. That's all on Doom 3 Files so check it out.
