Lots of new Doom related stuff has been posted to ftp://doom.wrong.button.com this week.-King Elvis now has a Doom Legacy front end in the Source Ports section. -Rubilacxe's Cube is in the "Source Ports & Total Conversions" dir. -A few more of Lazer's wads have been placed into the "Lazer" dir under wads. -An enhanced version of the console version of "Spawning Vats" is in the wads dir "wads from console doom" along with Redemption Denied. Good stuff. Go have a look!
Skulltag Nearly Done
Carnevil has updated Skulltag to report that they are starting to get close to the release of the full version. Some of the skins and almost all of the deathmatch levels are done. There is also the promise of Screen shots soon.

A new version of the GoldenEye deathmatch level pack ge64dm.wad has been posted at the GoldenEye Doom2 TC site. This new wad includes 7 dm levels and requires the latest version of gold64.zip(for source ports) or ogold64.zip(for normal Doom 2) for the additional textures. Also posted is a Partial Conversion of the movie MoonRaker by Sam and a new version of ge64levs.zip which updates some levels and fixes the surface1 bug again.

In response to some questions from contestants there have been a couple of amendments and clarifications to the 3d Legacy Wad Contest rules. 1) All entries must be for Doom 2, Ultimate Doom or Heretic. 2) The deadline for all entries has been extended from June 14, 2001 to June 27, 2001. So, there's still four full weeks left for you to make that winning level. Hop to it!

Fod's Deathmatch Page is the lucky recipient of this honor (yay fod!!!! :) In other news guest wad reviewer Jeremy Stepp has reviewed a level titled: True Evil. WolfDM Released
Pablo Dictter just released the WolfDM pack and it's ready to be downloaded and played. I fixed all the bugs that I could find. Aligned all the textures and some wolf music is added. This is not supose to be Gothic DM or something similar, is just a group of 4 simple levels. Underworld TC Help Wanted
The Underworld Total Conversion needs you! This conversion 's theme goes from Earth, to space and eventually to hell, through 32 levels of Doom II. Just released on Doom Wad Station is a new level by Brandon Mills titled Weepin. This wad can be found on the Young Guns page. Brandon is an 11 year old wad developer who is truly beginning to get the hang of it. This wad is definitely worth a download no matter what your skill level but rookies beware!

Kokak has announced the release of the official 0.66 Zdoomgl beta at the Doomgl page. New features include the welcome addition of unlimited resolution support as well as various other bugfixes to increase stabiltiy. This version has been mirrored to the ports section and you can download it here. While you're at it you might want to download Slayer's new model pack to try out with it. This pack includes: -New fireballs from Arachnotron, Imp, and Hell Knight/Baron. -A new barrel with explosion. -New explosive death animations for imp, sargeant, chaingunner and SS soldier. -A new plasma Gun. Doom Legacy Wads
Jive has been a busy fellow and added some new stuff to Doom Legacy Wads. Jive has been working on the presentation of the page and also added two new wads. SiriusIV and 3dPhobos7 have been added to the games section.
Immoral Updates
Immoral Conduct has updated with news that the grenade problem has been fixed. The problem that people were experiencing was due to an infinite loop which caused frags to spawn themselves over and over. So now you can grab version 0.9b.

I was trying out different lighting levels in Doom, and I wrote a program in C++ to generate a HTML page containing a list of all the different light levels in Doom. That's right folks. The god of Doom, John Romero himself, has given a glowing endorsement of Legacy at Planet Romero! In fact it's now his favorite source port, replacing ZDoom on his desktop. Newdoom Competition Time
Time for you all to warm up those editors as a new contest arrives at Newdoom. The aim is simply to make the best 3d level using Legacy in the space of one month. It is that simple. For those of you who are a little unsure how to make 3d floors in legacy there is a map which you can get from the Newdoom Contest page. This contains one 3d floor which you can use as a base for your map if you like. All the information you need is on the Newdoom Contest page. So go have a look and make a start.

Pablo Dictter has updated Pablo's Place with some new plans for Subversion. It is now going to be a complete episode instead of starting from E3M3. The 2001 A Doom Odyssey project has finally got it's own homepage. This is an add on pack for Ultimate Doom and contains four all new episodes each with 9 all new levels. COMPET-N Hits 50,000

The COMPET-N Home Page updated yesterday with news the site had it's 50,000th hit on Wednesday. Doug "Opulent" Merrill was the lucky guy behind the computer, and sent in a screenshot to prove it too. On the demo front there are two pacifist demos by Adam Williamson completing E3M1 and E3M9(long thought to be impossible). There's also a rundown on several maps that are yet to be successfully completed under pacifist or tyson rules. Other demos include speedruns in Ultimate Doom, and several PWAD demos for Hell Revealed, Memento Mori, Requiem, and the Classic Episode.

The Doom Legacy site has updated, with thanks, on feedback the team has received regarding the recent release of Doom Legacy v1.32 beta 1. Also in the update are some tips for working around some of the remaining bugs and a link to SoM's editing section which provides documentation for most of the new editing features.

Some not so good news here. Seems the Perforated Entrails project is in trouble. Little progress has been made in the past five months or so by several team members. Now it doesn't look like the project will be released in the way it was planned to be. Tormentor667 hopes to be able to release the deathmatch mod in some form so as not to dissappoint those that have been looking forward to it. Tell him what you think he should do here in this forum thread.

Welcome Newdoom.com's latest hosted site Bonematch! Bonematch is a Doom2 mod for Edge. Currently there are some cool new weapons such as the Pikachu launcher, akimbo pistols, shotguns, supershotguns and more. There are plans to add new enemies, levels and an original storyline as work progresses. Planetromero Wolf 3D Article
John Romero had updated his Planetromero.com site sometime yesterday with a very kewl "Happy Birthday Wolfenstein 3D" article. Here's a clip: Wolfenstein 3D had an incredibly fast development cycle of 6 months with a team of only five people which included Bobby Prince, our sound and music maestro. Even so, Wolfenstein had features designed that were dropped during development for interface and speed of play reasons. Kewl stuff!

Florian Schulze has posted a new version of SDL_mixer_beta.dll which you can download here. This version should fix the music looping bug from the version released with PrBoom 2.2.0 for Win32. Florian would appreciate any feedback you can give him as to how it works out.

Vavoom v1.7 Released!
Janis has just released Vavoom version 1.7. Here's the info:Well, here's final version 1.7. As I promised I worked on optimizing software rendering. It is faster and, what's more important, it's more balanced, this means that speed improvement in simple scenes is less than speed improvement in complex scenes. I also implemented a new algorythm in glVIS, it's more precise, but it works slower. Also in fast mode it will perform some rough tests, and not just a empty lump. Note: there's no reason why you should rebuild already compiled vis data. Head to the Vavoom part of our Files Section for all the files, including the Windows binaries.

X-Doom sends word he has uploaded a new graphics wad called UnrealT1. It contains 141 textures and 7 flats. You can download the wad here. In ZD3K news he mentions a certain secret something that he plans to share by summer's end if he pulls it off. Apparently Doom_Dude knows about it, so I guess you could try pumping him for info if you are really curious ;)

Sascha Müller's Doom Site has updated with a changes of name and address. DeePsea 11.01 Released
It has arrived at last. SB Software's new version of DeePsea has been released with a host of new features. Amongst others it boasts new texture tools, Improved error checking and New predefined projects for ports. All this and some shots of the new tools at SB Software's.
