I'll let Karthik himself introduce his site Karthik's Doom Pages now hosted here on Newdoom.com:My Doom site is now hosted at NewDoom.com! I'm really happy to have my site put up here, and I'm looking forward to making more maps, writing more reviews, and putting up lots of interesting Doom stuff for everyone to see. I'll keep updating this site regularly, so visit it often. Update your bookmarks - everything related to Doom is now here, not at the older place. I've had to make some changes to the site - firstly, I gave all my pages an .shtml extension and adjusted the links accordingly. I also adjusted all the download links. I also have a new email address now - karthik@newdoom.com. Mail me with questions/comments/suggestions on the new site! The graphic at the bottom of the main page that says "Hosted by NewDoom.com" was created specially for me by my brother Varun.

LordFlathead's Doom Homepage has posted a huge article written by Zaldron. It goes into great detail on the technology that will be present in the new Doom game. It's focus is primarily on lighting and texturing. It also touches on other topics like 3D Models, rendering, scripting and more. Thanks to OldDog for the heads up!
DeePsea Release Status
The DeePsea homepage has updated with this news on the evolving editor.Did I mention that was a programming week? One thing led to another and they all sounded like such good ideas that it just had to be done. The end result is being documented right now and hopefully can be posted Sunday. Besides new Automatic TEXTUREx and PNAMES Tools (see below), support was also added for levels with GL nodes in all the tools. This means you can edit, save, import, export and all that stuff even if they contain GL nodes. The list of new features and improvements is very extensive and should make editing the contents of PWADs a lot more pleasant. We went through over 20 revisions, ending up with so many enhancements that the release will be called 11.01.

Shacknews is reporting on a desktop snapshot from Jim Dose' of id Software working on the DOOM "tech demo." Apparently the shot is genuine but that doesn't mean we will be seeing anything from the New Doom game anytime soon, as this is what Christian Antkow had to say:That's the startup screen we used at Macworld. It has not changed since then. We have no plans on releasing a techdemo in the forseeable future, nor do we plan on showing any DOOM technology at E3. So, are there any coders out there that can glean any useful insight from this? Post your thoughts in the comments.

Every once in a while I come accross an individual in the Doom community that selflessly provides an interesting and valuable service. On occasion, I'll be updating to tell you a little about them who they are and what they do. Today, I'd like to introduce you to Elbryan42. Since the beginning of March of this year, he has been running a little known ftp site that started out as a place where he could make his Doom music mp3s available for download. Since then it has grown to include all manner of Doom related files including wads, sounds, patches, faqs and much more. Many people have contributed their work and now the site is over 3 gigabytes in size! The site is a virtual treasure chest of rare, high quality material, much of which is not available anywhere else. I asked him to provide a little info on what the site has to offer and how someone can go about making their own contributions:Uploading Rules -------------------------- 1) You must ICQ or email me to get an account. 2) Legal stuff only. NO WAREZ, or MP3s where you can actually buy the CD. 3) Levels, remade game music tracks, cartoons. Check first if you want to upload something else. 4) Let me know what you're gonna upload before you upload. As for features of the site: -the first and formemost place to get "Elbryan42's Awesome Quality!" mp3s for Doom and Descent. -PSX Duke3d music, as well as remixed tunes from various games. -the one stop for doom information: faqs, wads, music, patches, and more! -cartoons available weekly (they change on friday nite) current cartoons include transformers, x-men evolution, earthworm jim, and south park! -depository of many levels, remixes, and projects from many contributers from the Doom community! -3 gigs and growing! Well, there you have it. Check out this awesome site here: ftp://doom:doom@doom.wrong.button.com There's a five user maximum limit right now so if you can't get on right away just wait a little bit and try again later.
