This is what he has to say about his latest release:The Fall Of A King actually started out as background music for a Doom total conversion, something along the lines of GothicDM. I'm not sure what happend with it all, but I decided to tak the theme to a whole other direction. The Fall Of A King can be found at Fanatical Productions.

Read My Lips, No More Betas
I think we can trust Jaakko Keränen on this one as he has announced the release of Doomsday 1.5.4 encopassing new versions of jDoom, jHeretic and jHexen. Here is what the man had to say:I'm ending the beta stage for now, but that doesn't mean things are completely bug-free and stable. This version of Doomsday (1.5.4) is quite likely the most stable and polished version of the engine to date, but I still haven't tested the network code enough to feel comfortable with it. At least I believe it doesn't crash any more. Your mileage may vary, though. Let me know how it goes... Check out the rest of the update, download it and do as the man says 'Let me know how it goes'.
Planetfall Doom New Version
Planetfall Doom has updated with a new version to work with EDGE 1.27. Andy says that this is a Windows Zip file, but a tar.gz should be available eventually. He is also working on his other project and there could be a beta soon.
Paul Jaquays Quits id |
Paul Jaquays has updated his .plan with this piece of news:I’ll drop the bombshell here and get it over with. For me, this is a time to "pluck up what is planted." Yesterday, March 7th marked the 5th anniversary of my joining id Software. So the timing of this message is somewhat ironic in nature. After much consideration and soul searching, I've decided to part ways with id. Today, March 8th, is my last day as an id Software employee.
After five years of making first person shooters like Quake2, Quake III Arena, and Quake III: Team Arena, I’ve come to the realization that my heart just isn’t in it any more. For this reason, I’ve decided to make a slight shift in career direction and seek other design and development challenges. I have accepted a position with Ensemble Studios (the creators of the Age of Empires series and Age of Mythology) here in Dallas, and will be taking up my new duties with them in short order. I’m excited about the new job and I understand that the entire team there is excited to have me come on board.
I want to thank everyone who has made my id experience an interesting ride, including the guys here at id, Ms. Donna, and especially the friends I’ve made in the on-line mapping, modeling, and texturing communities.
Anyone who needs to contact me directly should still be able to do so through my id email address for a while yet. Or you can check for me up on the MapCenter forums.
Well, it has been fun, honest, but the time has come to power down this system, pack up a few remaining personal items, shake some hands, say my farewells, and head on out the door. Catch you all later.
-Paul
March 7, 1997 – March 8, 2002.
P.S. … and don’t worry about Doom, the guys who have been doing all the really cool stuff for the game are still busting their chops hard as ever on it. I need to sit down.

Attack of the j's!
The jDoom website has been updated with a new screenshot, "Attack of the Flaming Ghosts" (eat your heart out, George Lucas), which as you may have noticed, we've also made the Pic of the Day here on the NewDoom site. And you'll find a new entry to the jDoom FAQ:Q: Why does the game suffer from momentary pauses?
A: Could be an issue with your sound hardware. Guy Ferrante reports: "I was not getting music in game play, my mother board has onboard sound, its the SIS 735 chipset. I just installed a Soundblaster 16 and tested all three games Jhexen-Jdoom-Jheretic and was thrilled that the music was perfect and that these are no more pauses in gameplay." Head to the jDoom site for more info!

Almost all the pages here have been update according to Pablo and he has removed Block DM from the Doom section, because he thought it was the worst dm level ever made.

Legacy Leaver
SOM has updated with this piece of news:After thinking long and hard about it, I've decided that it's time I left the Doom Legacy team. I don't think there is anything else I can really do for the port and I just don't have the desire to work on it anymore. I'm not leaving under any negative circumstances. I wish the legacy team nothing but the best and I know that Legacy will go on fine without me. I just feel like it's time I did other things. There are a few other Doom related projects I'm still involved in and I hope to have some info up about them soon... My heart was thumping for a second then.
