 GameDaily Previews Resurrection Of Evil
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 2:06 PM
Category: DOOM 3

Phoebus pointed out that GameDaily posted up thier version of a Doom 3, Resurrection Of Evil preview. Here is a byte out of what they posted:
The story picks up two years after the disaster on Mars. The UAC receives a mysterious signal from a beacon at Site 1 and sends a team from Earth to investigate. You take on the role of a combat engineer with the task of finding the source of the beacon signal. The game starts out with a cut scene showing your character rushing into ancient ruins and finding the source of the signal: an ancient artifact created to open the link between hell and Mars as soon as it comes into contact with a human. Oops. This is where your trouble begins. Demons start flooding the ancient catacombs and you have to fight your way through them to reach the base (and your salvation).
Yeah, so check out that preview right here.

 Anouther Resurrection Of Evil Preview
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 3:05 PM
Category: DOOM 3

Everybody seems to be doing a preview this week and Gamer's Depot has thier version of a hands-on preview for the Doom 3: Resurrection Of Evil expansion. Here is a clip:
Level design is among the first thing you’ll notice in ROE – the ability to explore new areas previously unseen in the original game has a nice appeal to it and the overall atmosphere – while still Doom – is a bit nicer. That is, they have a more “open feel” to them and are just dripping with “explore me” written all over them.
Check out that preview.

 Infected Telecom Stations Released
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 8:24 PM
Category: DOOM Wads

Oldanimal sent in the news that his simple website is ready and Infected Telecom Stations is now ready for download, which is a 11 level, single player episode for Doom 2.
Expect to not too small/big levels, lots of monsters, not too much and tricky secrets. You won't get too much ammos, so kill some former humans and sergeants and use shotguns and the Gatling! Testers say, that the levels are hard, but it is not my opinion. It is fact, that they are harder than the original levels. Good hunting!
Hit the Oldanimal site for the rest of the deal.

Final Version Of ZOOW: Alien Dimension Finished
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:15 PM
Category: DOOM Conversions

I was just on Wads In Progress looking around when I spotted that Jow finished the final version of his ZOOW: 41i3n |)im3n5i0n, DOOM TC for the Doomsday Engine.
After being in the detention cell for a couple rotations, something unusual happens. Almost all computer systems go fucked up with some kind of new computer virus. Some of the prisoners took advantage of this situation and started a riot. The player is part of this riot and he has some genetically engineered mutations. The soldiers and guards have been given an order to terminate all mutations, escaped lab creatures and stop the riot.
Check out the ZOOW TC on WIP and get the download off the ZOOW Alien Dimension site.

Filefront Posted Up Dual Doom 3 Xbox Articles
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 1:18 PM
Category: DOOM 3

Filefront has a Doom 3 Xbox Interview with id Software CEO, Todd Hollenshead and here is a snip from that article:
Doom and Doom 2 were the single greatest influences on the development team, in terms of the experience we wanted to provide for players to play Doom 3. In echoes to the fact that a lot of the team, probably half or so, got their start as amateur developers helping create Doom or Doom 2.
They also have up a Doom 3 Xbox Preview article so check that stuff out. Thanks to Ana for sending in the news.

 Doom 3 Expansion Interview
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 2:08 PM
Category: DOOM 3

First of all if you follow the linkage in this news post you'll be treated to a storyline spoiler so be forewarned! Be Warned! Anyways due to roaming around Blues News I noticed that Computer Games Mag has an interview posted with Matt Hooper and Marty Stratton of id Software on the upcoming Doom 3 Expansion pack, Resurrection Of Evil. I quickly grabbed this quote and somehow avoided the spoiler myself:
Hooper says that, in terms of gameplay, Resurrection of Evil is perhaps a little more intense than its predecessor, which had equal amounts of action, and slow but scary horror themes. Part of the reason for this is that the expansion will be much shorter. However, this doesn’t mean that there isn’t a lot to do and see.
For the complete interview go here.

 Epic War
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:03 PM
Category: DOOM 3

It's been pretty 'meh' around here lately as I'm trying to get into some map designing and I'm half asleep. Meanwhile there doesn't seem to be much going on but a trip to Doom 3 Files reveals a Doom 3 Deathmatch level called Epic War that looks like it may be good for match or two (hell I don't know). There's not much to go by in the description and the map wasn't reviewed so it's up to you to figure out if it's worth downgrabbin' Epic War. Now I'm going to go slap some sectors around in Doom Builder.

Vilecore 2, Sign Of The Cross & Other Stuff
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 12:17 PM
Category: Hosted Site | Personal Projects

Time to do my own news since I updated my site. Since the release of 11 Years Of Doom I've been busy working on a bunch of stuff including Vilecore II and a map I'm calling The 'O' of Corruption (not a remake or revamp of Doom 2's 'O' of Destruction). I also plan on working on a small to medium sized Doom Legacy episode (12+ maps) for Doom 2 (untitled) of which my previously released Blood Pentagram will be the entry level. I have a start on the 2nd map that's titled Sign Of The Cross and I have a large screenie on my main page from that level. Theres other info on The Megawad so check that out if you dare.

The latest additions to the site include Halogen by Exl, and UDM3 by the UniDooM Clan (not including Rellik so it's ok for him to review it even tho he's a clan memeber... least thats what he says.) Category: DOOM 3

The team for the Last Man Standing mod for Doom 3 has released Beta 0.2 and here is a quote from thier update:
Well here it is, our Beta 0.2 with new content including a bunch of new maps, and most importantly, Coop! Not only do we have our gameplay modes in there, but you can also play the Doom 3 SP levels though we don't officially support it. As a note, we really tried to bring back the feel of Doom 1&2 in our mod, we hope we were able to accomplish this.

Wicked be the Ways of Men
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 1:59 PM
Category: DOOM Wads

Rex announced on our forum that he's finished the seventh map in his Wicked Series.
This map is somewhat unique in that it features separate player "starts" at different points in the map, depending on the skill level group you choose. This means that you can play this map in at least three ways. Additional path choices are available as you progress through the map. Also, there are some areas that are only accessible to certain skill levels, and weapon placement and some traps are different for the different skill levels.
Check out that map on Doom Nexus including 9 new screenshots and one download just in time for the weekend.

File Moving In Progress On Doom Wad Station
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 1:50 PM
Category: General

Sematary let us know that his file host took a sudden departure and now he's moving the site's files to a new host and he's now in the process of re-uploading the entire site to the new servers and he hopes to have that done in a few days.
Aside from that, the new host is much more advanced than the last one and has full PERL, CGI and PHP capability including a few other letters I'm not even familiar with. ;-) I'll also be able to offer hosting with subdomains and ftp access as well as email addresses so the site is going to see some changes. More info will be posted on my site as the re-upload continues and I get a better idea of what I can do.
So now you know whats up with the Doom Wad Station.

Note that Wad2PDF requires a Python installation and levels need version 3 gl nodes built with glBSP. If your interested check out this page.

 Facing Hell Revealed
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:56 PM
Category: DOOM 3

I was using Google to look for some Doom 3 stuffage and found a Doom 3 mod site called Facing Hell that I've not seen before that I can remember.
In FH, we continue the story of original Doom 3 and surprise the player with a deep story, that tells the truth about the origin of all evil and hell. The player will discover some interesting things about the UAC, their artefacts from the archeological excarvation on mars and the weird network of evil thoughts and research that leaded to where we are now: a neverending painful mission for the Doom Marine.
Thier latest update talks about a finished monster that they say is an ancient demon called The Lord, who flys around and fires six fireballs. So check out the Facing Hell site.
