Well, this one is a real upgrade from the last! And no, the reason it was eleven months between this and the last one was NOT because I spent all that time working on this one. :)

 Another Level Redesign
Posted by Jason 'FACE.UK' Sloan at 2:00 AM
Category: General

Chris from The Doomers Recess was also unhappy about one of his maps and had this to say
I took a look at an already finished map for my 'CH Retro' project and realized that it contained some minor errors and ugly stuff of all sorts. It ended up with me sitting through an entire afternoon fine-tuning a map which I thought was completed and ready for the final map compiling some time in the future. There was a lot of things wrong with this map, and deep down inside I still feel that despite its clear strengths, it'll never be my favorite map.
There are also some shots of the new design.

Why is a new Doom level editor from Jussi Pakkanen. The editor only runs under Linux although Jussi says it is theoretically possible and he will look into it as the full release gets closer. He does also state that this version is by no means stable so don't us it on anything importent at the moment.

 KickStarting jDoom
Posted by William 'Phoebus' Mull at 8:58 AM
Category: General

Jaakko 'skyJake' Keränen has released a new beta version of jDoom. As this version features several significant changes, perhaps it's best to let skyJake do the explaining:
If you're having problems with KickStart, first try downloading the Visual Basic runtime support files from the jDoom Files page. If that doesn't help, you can always start the game using e.g. a DOS batch file. The following should work (Run\jDoom\Play.bat):

@..\..\bin\doomsday -game ..\..\bin\jdoom.dll
-gl ..\..\bin\dropengl.dll -basedir ..\.. -file

(All that on one line)
Got all that? Good! Head to the jDoom site for more info and the download!

 More DOOM Level Goodness
 Posted by at 12:48 AM
Category: General

Im the new face... erm Character arrangement, here on NewDoom. (Hi everyone!) To start on a good note, I have some classic, and I mean REAL classic Doom1 levels for all you Doom1 diehards. These level are classic cause I built them when Doom was still on the leading edge, and I have them all in tact. I'll be hosting them right here on the coolest Doom site on the net... That would be NewDoom and no other. The maps themselves could be of the toughest Doom1 maps you'll ever play. Alot of Hexen-like difficulty and you'll feel asif you are playing Doom2 and not tame old Doom1. I hope to have a great time keeping you on the edge of classic Doom news aswell as Doom3 related stuff aswell as level design discussions.
