Carmack Talks Graphics
John Carmack has updated his Webdog .Plan and talks about Nvidia's NV30 and ATI's R300. Here is the first bit:At the moment, the NV30 is slightly faster on most scenes in Doom than the R300, but I can still find some scenes where the R300 pulls a little bit ahead. The issue is complicated because of the different ways the cards can choose to run the game. There is not really anything on the game itself but there is plenty on the technical side. So check it out here.

Black Magic Rocket
Mr Rocket has released a two new maps called Black Magic. It's a Deathmatch level for use with legacy and contains lots of colored coronal lighting. Mr Rocket says that map02 is the same as map01 but feels a bit different. You'll have to get it to see what he is on about. There is also a bit of a problem when playing which is explained here: There is a slight issue with the wad due to the way legacy fraggle script is handled with multiplayer , after the client connects to the server , the server host must restart the map in order to make the coronals look right to the client.. , e.g. type map map01 and press enter in the console after the all clients have connected and are in game.. You can get it from Mr Rocket' Homepage.

Baldy's RTC-3057 Demo Review
Sarge Baldy's Hardass Doom Reviews has posted a review of the RTC-3057 Demo. Here is a Snippet The first map in an extremely advanced and highly detailed ZDoom mod that has taken a long ass time to make has finally been released. The detail in this map is the best I've ever seen. Most of it could probably be overlooked, as this level strives more to be perfect than to be flashy. Read the rest of this over at Sarge Baldy's Hardass Doom Reviews.
