Category: General

Worlds Of Toby.M is the temporary home for the Phobos Wad Lab. There is an update on his main page about Visions of Eternity and here it is:
Yesterday I worked a little bit on my Doom project "Visions of Eternity". Well, I only made one room for E1M1, but at least this is something after months of not doing anything. I really want to get ahead with this project. Sadly I'm not into Doom that much right now. I was thinking about cutting VoE down, taking some levels out or merging them together, and releasing a short episode with five levels or so. But I'd rather like to release the whole thing, so I'll try to get my ass to work on the project.
There is also a new map released for Doom 2 called Steel Conquerors. This is available from his Doom section.

 Polled for a Year
Posted by Jason 'FACE.UK' Sloan at 7:28 PM
Category: General

MAZter, the Russian Doom site has got two new polls for you to cast your vote on. The two questions are:
1) What Doom/Port do you play now?
2) What kind of Doom weapon do you prefer?
What is interesting is that the polls are going to run for a year as the time it finishes is 31 December 2002. So we should get the results New Years Day 2003. See you there then.
Update: I got it wrong. The poll is running for one month and two months. It was late when I did it. MAZter mailed me to say 'You Wrong You Crazy'. In a Nutshell.

 Reznor On Doom
Posted by Jason 'FACE.UK' Sloan at 6:52 PM
Category: General

Macworld have posted a Q&A with Trent Reznor of NIN. In it he talks a little about his work on Quake and about the upcoming new Doom.
Q: After providing the music for Quake, are you scoring any more games?

Reznor: I've been discussing things with Id Software for Doom III. It's not formalized at this point, but it's something I really want to do. When I did Quake, we were still questioning if the audio was going to be streamed off of CD, which if it wasn't was incredibly limiting. But with as interactive as things are now, and as immersive as the engine they've been working on is graphically, and some of the program is so moody; it's like scoring a film. Yet it's much more intense than a film because it doesn't always go the same way, it has to be interactive. Plus the mood of the game is so dark and evil, it's interesting to me.
Read the rest of the Q/A at Macworld.

Pablo's Place has updated with this information:
Progress on the base level has been good. There's not much I can actually say about it than is a base wad. I mean I'm building the level as I go, just making rooms without planning (all my wads were made that way...2 were planned), so I can't give any specific info if I don't have any. I don't know when I'm going to get this wad finished, 4 more weeks, maybe a month...maybe two. I don't know. Screenshots? nah, not today. Maybe on the next update.
By the way Pablo has recently moved so don't forget to update your bookmarks.
