Brilliant Highlights NG Final

Dafama2K7 released the final version (1.1) of Brilliant Highlights NG for Doom 3.This is an update to Brilliant Highlights NG (v1.0) mod, which is based on the original Brilliant Highlights (0.60b) mod by Maha_x. Brilliant Highlights is a modified shader for Doom 3 (and RoE) that gives high quality dynamic highlights and enhaces the 3D look of the surfaces. So if you're into that kinda thing maybe you should check it out. That is all on Doom 3 Files.

Gremlins Everywhere

Here is a Doom 3 mod called Project Gremlin which is an older mod that was recently added to Doom 3 Files. Developed by atzek the mod adds some gremlins (based on that olde 1984 film) to the game.There are seven Gremlins available in Project Gremlin, one has a flame thrower, and one has two pistols; There is also one that has been crossed with a spider. Beware of the one with the chainsaw, he can be a problem! Have a look at that on Doom 3 Files.

I just happened to hit Map Factory and found a new singleplayer map for Doom 3 that is called: dbz2 Tower.I tryed to create a balance between hell and industrial assets. I'm quiet happy with the result but the next chapter should improve on this. Walk through the Map Factory and grab some dbz2 Tower.

I think my brain is tired and I don't even want to think about doing news but here I am again. Does anybody even read this stuff I type up or visit any of the stuff I post about? Here is a map. So it's the day after the big day and I'm tired! The beer and the wine flowed and man that turkey was excellent! So anyways, now that it's the day after, theres not much going on. Just kinda relaxing listening to the new Nightwish album before heading out to my brother's place for more food n beer. Now would be a good time to check out the re-release of 13 Years of Doom now that it's had some bug fixes. Adios, I gotta run. Have a nice day!

Holy Cacodemons it's Christmas! I looked and I looked and all the Doomers are asleep and those who have websites haven't updated the darned things AGAIN except there is a big red warning banner thing on the ZDaemon that is as bright as Roudolphs nose that says something like ATTENTION: YOU'RE ALL GOING TO DIE!!! Ok so it doesn't say that and to be honest, I can't remember what it said exactly... somethin about updating if you run a server. Ahhhhhh anyhow it's late, I'm off to sleep (heh posted this early you see) to eventually wake up and see what Santa brought me.... maybe a brunette and maybe season two of Galatica and beer! I do know there will be turkey! So have a very Merry Christmas all you Doomers and whoever else wanders by and reads this message. Don't look for me I'll be doing Christmas stuffs. Ho ho ho!

I was on the Skull Tag site and apparently nothing new is happening.... UNTIL you hit thier forums and poke around and see that Rivecoder posted a Skulltag 97D Trailer thread.With the Development cycle for the latest and greatest version of Skulltag nearing its completion a preview was naturally needed! As most people know this version has had an entirely different and far more open development process than previous versions of the port. The dedication of the internal testers was far beyond our expectations and this latest version truly was made by the entire community, not just the development team. (Although Carnevil and Torr still deserve major props for their work!) You all should feel proud to be members of the best community on the net and to have helped create such a fine port. Yeah so go check that out. Meanwhile, it's freaking Christmas Eve already! I got stuff to do.... accccck! Like I have presents to wrap, bake a cherry pound cake and hopefully play some Guild Wars during the Winterfest jobby. Just hope I don't run into that nasty monk again...

What a boring Sunday so far. I looked for some MGE news this morning and didn't see anything that I wanted to post and usually this doesn't take so long. So I played some Guild Wars and then looked for Doom news. Well not much is going on, so I updated my site... The Megawad with some basic ramblings. The only other Doomer who has about as much to say as me is Tango over on The Spiffcave. If you want to visit those sites, go ahead but don't expect to not be bored. Excuse me, I'm going for some food and then look for some MG&E news.

Gyppi released a mod resource tool for Doom 3 (and other IdTech 4 games) which is an automatic unpacker manager tool.This is a neat little tool created by Gyppi that a lot of you modders out there will find super useful! This tool is an automatic unpacker manager for games based on IdTech4 engine (also called Trinity) which supports Doom3, Quake 4, Prey and Enemy Territory: Quake Wars. It is useful to unpack the entire game data preserving the "game's view" folder and file structure. Check out IdTech4 File Unpacker (v1.0.0.0).

13 Years Of Doom Released

I grabbed a coffee and some toast this morning and jumped online. First thing I see is a PM from Fatal saying that the 13 Years of Doom wad that a bunch of us worked on finally got finished. Fatal put up a thread on our forums right here and has this to say:I think that this wad turned out great! The overall quality is very high, and the level is one of the most varied ones I know of. Yes the wad is a bit late in getting finished but thankfully it is now done and people can play it. Anyhow the download links are available in the forum link I posted above. Have a good day everybody, I'm off for snow removal and junk.

How many of these Doom 3 mods does Dafama2K7 work on? This one is called MaxGfx and was updated to v1.3 with updated Parallax shaders, updated Def and Script files, lowered r_lightScale to 2.0, bettered flashlights, etc... Check that mod out thanks to Doom 3 Files.

Dafama2K7 released the 1.4 update to the Annihilation X NGFor those of you just coming out of a coma, Annihilation X (tweaked by Team Annihilation {TA}) is a very enhanced version of Spunky's Annihilation 4.0. While it may have most of the same files, skins, some weapons, and so on, Annihilation X is truely one of the greatest pieces of work that you, the D3 gamer, will download.So get the Annihilation X NG update off of Doom 3 Files.

Apparently ReX updated Doom Nexus with the release of a new map that he calls DooM2: Help on Earth - Millenium Edition, which according to Rex is a joke wad.This is a map that I started out making as a joke wad, and many of the elements of a joke wad are maintained throughout - atrocious texturing, non-existent texture alignment, pointless secret areas, weapons that dominate inferior enemies, missing textures, poor use of unpegging, constant use of 90-degree walls. In short, common mistakes made by editing newbies in the early years of DooM editing. Soooo hit Doom Nexus and get punched.... or something.

I don't normally mention Quake stuff on here but this was pretty interesting due to the id Software guys getting into the game.... no really, they really are getting into the game. Just read the fragging quote..Whether you tell your west coast boss it's a lunch meeting, your east coast boss it's an important afternoon video conference or if you're already at home and relaxing across the pond -- you can have a chance to face off versus id Software!
We would like to invite you to join the id Development Team in a Stopwatch match this coming Tuesday, December 18th at 2PM CST / 20:00 GMT. Samian On Oblige

I didn't notice this before but I was cleaning up the Editing forum and spotted that samian (author of Slump) posted that he is tinkering with the Oblige code. Apparently he fixed some of the Heretic bugs, got the generator to make smaller maps and some other stuff.The first thing I have done is make "small" maps smaller than Oblige's "small" maps. This caused a number of bugs to pop up, which I hunted down and fixed. Someone once mentioned that being able to generate 1024x1024 deathmatch maps with Oblige would be nice; making a small map with deathmatch enabled now makes maps very suitable for near-overload-small 1-on-1 fragfests. Sometimes there are little nooks and crannies a player can hide in, but it won't take the other player very long to find them. You can read more right here. Give the guy some feedback if you can!

Now that Dooms birthday is over, things seem to have died down. Looking around the usual sites revealed no recent activity, so I hopped on /id games and noticed that Chrisbo Sonnekins released a singleplayer map called Keep Running.A single level (map01) based on a dream/nightmare You are running through hell trying to find somewhere to hide but there are too many friggin' monsters everywhere. So today marks the 14th Birthday of Doom. I was actually not clued in and ended up playing some Oblivion.... Hard to believe that Doom is that old already and it seemed like it took forever for id Software to finish Doom 3 and that game is already a couple years olde... Where does the time go? I also wonder what Doom titles we will see released in the next 14 years and if any of them will have the staying power of the original... I doubt it, but you never know. Anyhow that's enough of me rambling on. I looked around to see if theres any Doom news stuff to mention on this hellish day. Apparently there's a Doom 3 mod called.... oooh wait a sec I wanted to make a big list of stuff like this:That's the list. Have a great Doom day!

The PK Sound mod that was made by Slade EXE is one of those mods that tweaks the sound in Doom 3 but in this case only five things were changed.The PK Sound mod will not overwhelm you with all of it's changes though, as it will only effects five objects in total, but it's the subtle differences from the norm that is apealing. That file is available thanks to Doom 3 Files.

Dafama2K7 released version 1.5 (update) of the Parallax Extreme mod for Doom 3.This mod tweakes the Doom3's graphics engine by applying parallax mapping to all textures; It incorporates an improved central shader and all other textures benefit from the Simulated Parallax Mapping design. The result is a significant improvement over standard bump mapping. Check that out on Doom 3 Files.

Randy posted over on the ZDoom site that he got the changelog page working the way he wants.There was a simple version in place initially, but apparent resource utilization problems made me replace it with a boring page that linked to the log file in the repository. Now he says he can get back to work on the port.

Potnop released the alpha of his Doom 2D platform game.I even made my own sprites for it to ensure that the game looks good, unlike most people who just rip the sprites from Doom and scale them down which usually looks horrible. Read more about it and get the download right here.

I just happened to hit Map Factory and found a new singleplayer map for Doom 3 that is called Serengrove which was designed by Horror.It has taken me a few months but it's finally finished. Serengrove is a tudor themed map with lots of custom models, textures, animation, sounds and nasty surprises. I don't want to give too much away, so I'll leave it at that for now. Good luck! Just when I was gonna start bitching about a lack of Doom news Tango updated The Spiffcave with some screenshots from his 32in24-5 map.... which means you can also downgrab teh 5th installment of the 32 in 24 megawads. Another FFA 32in24, except with a unique app- roach: one person creates a layout, and another mapper focuses on detailing the layout heavily and overall refining the map to perfection. All layouts were completed in 24 hours, within 48 hours almost all were detailed, and in the next two days, the wad was compiled and released. Thanks to /idgames for the downgrab of the deathmatch megawad.

The Doom 3 mod that goes by the name Mind has seen some updates lately over on Mod DB. There's a few screenshots I didn't see before...Your name is Jack and you're under arrest.
