Dafama2K7 released some AwesomeSauce in a 2.0 flavor for Doom 3.
Suping up your stock version of this awesome game, Dafama2K7 has once again visited that super popular four year old mod: Awesome Sauce (1.0), and after working his magic, has done an even better job at fixing it to be beyond what it was originally! A definite must-have!
The mod includes Quake 4 like mounted weapon lights, new muzzleflashes, fixed bugs and other changes. Go grab some AwesomeSauce off of Doom 3 Files.

 Update On Claustrophobia 1024
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 1:20 PM
Category: DOOM

Over on Mekworx, Mechadon posted about what is going on with Claustrophobia 1024.
As far as Claustrophobia goes, we’re actually coming along quite well. I’ve been gone for a few days, but I’m pretty sure we’re very VERY close to accepting 32 maps; the overflow makes that number much much higher. So far I’m pretty satisfied with how the quality of the maps are and how well the contributors have worked with me and each other.
Hit the Mekworx if you want to read more.

 Ruiner Update
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:23 PM
Category: DOOM

Over on Mod db the Ruiner mod for Doom 3 was updated with info on the ruiner bow (including screenshot), horde imps and they're also looking for mappers, and animators.
We recently finished development of the Ruin bow. Ruiner's gameplay is fast, and we needed a bow which would make it a usable weapon when facing large hordes of the damned. It should also be a weapon that was always worth using to the player.
Hit the Ruiner page for more info.

If you visit the ZDoom site you'll notice that Randy released build 1.47 of ACC that works with WadAuthor (and ZETH). There is also news over there from January 1st that a new release of ZDBSP is available... which I don't remember mentioning before but I could be losing brain cells.

 Quake Live Info
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:09 PM
Category: Quake

I was kicking around and noticed that Chris P posted on Got Game about Quake Live.
Post install, the Quake Live hub allows players to start multiplayer games, find friends, and other options. There is a profile page, which logs stats for your time in the game. A noted addition is the ability to view recent adversaries that players can add to friend lists, if one so chooses. Also, Quake Live contains bots in practice modes, where difficulty can be assigned for personal practice.
Check out what Chris has to say about Quake Live. Also hit the official Quake Live Site for more info.

 Wolfenstein Case Mod
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 6:36 PM
Category: Wolfenstein

Over on IGN they posted about a snazzy Wolfenstein Case Mod that Sheyr put together.
Designed by Sheyr, the aptly named FuG-01/ET is based around the core look of an old WWII field radio. One of the things we like to see most on high-end modded custom cases are the use of props to enhance the overall look and feel of the theme. The side-mounted receiver, which appears plugged into the side of the case just like it would've been on a real field radio, is a rather simple, yet ingenious concept that really goes a long way in the presentation.
Check out that Wolfenstein Case Mod!

 Daze Trailer
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 3:29 PM
Category: DOOM

Over on Mod db the first official trailer of DAZE is ready for viewing. The project is a multiplayer, Doom 3 mod.
We did not give up, we planned, we mapped, we coded, we searched for help. That is the result of all that. Watch and feel still unused potential of the id-tech4, at least until now! This is the striking proof that Doom3 can do it too. Dive into the harsh and dark world of DAZE!
Have a look at that DAZE trailer.

 Discovering The B-Dimension
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 12:00 AM
Category: DOOM

I was looking around for some Doom sites and found this placed called the B-Dimension which is the home of b00mstick and his Biohazard mod.
I decided to ditch Dead Replica because the project grew a little bit too ambitious, there’s no way I could make a whole new game from scratch. So I decided to make something simpler, like a remake or something (yeah, like it would be any simpler!) but still somehow tied to RE universe.
Check out the B-Dimension.

 Doom 4 Writer Revealed
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 1:56 PM
Category: DOOM

I just happened to check CVG for some game news for Mindless Games and the first thing I see is the fact that a writer for Doom 4 has been revealed!
CVG can confirm that British Fantasy award winning author Graham Joyce is writing the story to the game as you read this, though he had signed his life away and was unable to tell us anything about the direction the game was taking. We did ask. "I can say that ID have hired me to help develop the storyline potential," was all Joyce would give us when contacted.
Well that is certainly interesting!

 Total Recall Revealed
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:04 PM
Category: DOOM

I looked on Mod db just now and found a Doom 3 mod I never heard of before that's called Total Recall.
Total Recall is an action comedy mod for Doom 3 singleplayer. Loosely based on the 1990 science fiction movie, Total Recall, the main focus of this mod is to create the ultimate Arnold Schwarzenegger gaming experience using the id Tech 4 engine. If you're a big fan of the 80's and 90's Schwarzenegger action genre then you don't need to look any further, right? WRONG!!!
So check that out. I'm off for now!

 Sneaky Dark Mod Update

Category: DOOM

I somehow missed the January 2nd update on The Dark Mod site. The weird thing is, I was on there the other day when cleaning up all my Doom bookmarks.... dunno how I missed it. Anyhow in the update they mention 2 coders came up with a finished mission, that they worked on in secret. Plus there's info about work on the AI with sitting behavior and also with combat and the ability to parry. So hit the The Dark Mod site for more info.

 Daze Screenshots
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 7:54 PM
Category: DOOM

Over on Mod db I noticed this Daze mod for Doom 3 and they updated a few days ago with some screenshots.
The next step have been nukes which destroyed the picture of the world we had in mind. Just a few survived this catastrophe and ended up in holes to hide but the day is coming to cancel stashing. Now it's all about getting back to the earths surface and fight... fight for just one thing: Your EXISTANCE.
The project has a post apocalyptic theme going and it's due out in March. Also the message at the bottom of the page over there says they're looking for mappers, coders, texture artists and beta-testers...

 Hands On Quake Live
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 6:38 PM
Category: Quake

Oh hay, check this out! Over on Big Download they got thier Hands-On: Quake Live and posted about the experience.
The screen resolution options are plentiful, and offer many more options than the original Quake III. Those who simply wish to run the game in a browser window may do so, but bordering Quake Live's frenetic fragging with Start buttons, taskbars, and Firefox bookmarks doesn't exactly provide stellar ambiance. My gaming PC is connected to a 50-inch plasma HDTV, so 1920x1280 was my resolution of choice, and it did not disappoint.

 Super Shotgun Mod
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 10:12 PM
Category: DOOM

Over on Doom 3 Files there's a new super shotgun mod that's been released by Cody Knutson for Doom 3.
This mod will change the stock shotgun that you carry to a sawed-off shotgun! This also comes with a working HUD, however, what itdoes not come with is some working animations for the reload; As such, this mod is a simple mod...although, that is what 'version' numbers are made for...maybe with some time, we'll see another submission that comes complete with these animations.
That's all on Doom 3 Files if you want to check it out.
