Over on GameIndustry.biz they mentioned that Todd Hollenshead revealed that id Software's John Carmack is working on a brand new engine for the new game franchise. The new stuff that we're working on does have a brand new engine that John has been working on, actually is still working on today. We can’t really talk any details about it; we'll see about when the timing is right for an announcement. We like to be able to talk about stuff that we can show at the same time and it's not really ready to show yet. That article is on GameIndustry.biz.

Dafama2K7 released Vortex_NG (v3.0) which is a weapons mod for Doom 3 that soups up the BFG.To give you more bang for your BFG buck, now when you fire your weapon, the fireball will drag or throw any movable object within it's path. If you're also a Quake IV fan, then this will all seem vaguely familiar, that is because this weapon can be considered a clone of the DMG (Dark Material Gun) weapon! Check out that weapons mod on Doom 3 Files.

Over on Doom 3 Files Hardcore_gamer uploaded a Doom 3, singleplayer map that is called Hell Over Here. The story is a typical one, all is well, until one fine day, Outpost 172 ceases communications; Because you're the top dog, or maybe it's because you're on somebodies naughty list, you're the one that is sent to investigate. If you are the optimistic kind of person, you'll pack some party favors and look forward to some good times...if you're smart, you'll go prepared and take a little something that will liven the place up in case you happen to run into some baddies. Over on Doom 3 Files the featured map is Mars City Upgrade by bullseye. How many times have you fired up Doom3, found yourself in the 'Mars City' level, and thought: "Ya know...with a little something extra around here, this map could be fun and original again!"? If this is the case, then you are definately in the right place! This is a recreation of the 'Mars City' level as bullseye would like to see it. Check out that Mars City Upgrade.

Over on Doom 3 Files I was lurking around and found this Ghost Level that is designed for singleplayer in Doom 3.The first room is very simple with a guy talking in the corner who wants you to "get the plasma inducer"...so I'm guessing you ignore him. So then you set off to kill the monsters. Might be worth checking out. It's late so I'm going to bed...

Just noticed over on the Team Hellspawn site that voxels are now available for download in both .vox and .v3b on the Voxel Project Page.Although there are currently no plans for any source ports to support this format, partially due to the lack of an OpenGL renderer for voxels, we remain hopeful that someone will eventually implement such a feature. Have a look at the Voxel Project Page.

Suicide For Doom Review

You can find over on Doom Wad Station that Bob Larkin added Suicide For Doom and geared up a review for the map set. This is a nine level replacement for the first episode of original DOOM. The first map is extremely small and is over in about 2.3 seconds or thereabouts. The levels increase in size AND difficulty as you defeat them. Don't expect to spend more than about 10 minutes or so on the first three maps. After that, it becomes a little more time consuming. Regardless, you probably won't require more than an hour or so of your time to complete the entire 9 maps. That is all on Doom Wad Station.
