 Annihilation X (Update)
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 6:33 PM
Category: DOOM

Apparently there's an Annihilation X (Update) uploaded to Doom 3 Files.
Hey there! Well these are the updates I promised you guys. Reason the file size is so big is because of the 20 extra PDA songs you get with this mod and also other stuff Dafama did with Update_2.pk4.
The update adds new pets, new monsters, better graphics and bug fixes... plus osme other stuff.

Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 12:00 AM
Category: General

Lobo of the Robotech First Gen site updated with some screenshots for a couple projects, which includes the Doom Port Addon Launcher (Doom P.A.L) and a program for Edge scripting that's called RTS-IDE. I don't get scripting so you figure it out...

 Doom3 Scripter v1.0 Beta
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 10:40 PM
Category: DOOM

I don't know much about scripting beyond doing some basic fraggle stuffs for Legacy. So when it comes to scripting for Doom 3.... I'm totally lost. However, Ajm113 released a utility called Doom3 Scripter (v1.0 Beta) that is supposed to help in getting scripts made.
Having trouble making your own levels in Doom3? Wish there was some help out there for you to take advantage of? Then you're in luck...we have for you, a handy utility created by Ajm113 that will get you on the fast track of creating your own Doom3 level scripts.
Good luck if you try it out. That's all on Doom 3 Files.

Ultimate Torment and Torture - Invasion For Skulltag
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:16 PM
Category: DOOM

Tormentor667 posted on his site that he released Ultimate Torment and Torture - Invasion for Skull Tag.
It's fun, it's action and it's full of monsters and hard battles, just how you like it if you were ever a fan of my creations. Go get it now and play it online with your friends, as it is mostly created for multiplayer action but makes also fun in single player (although it's very hard alone I have to admit).
Go grab UT&T - Invasion over on Realm 667.

 Prometheus Experiment Review
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 10:04 PM
Category: DOOM

Ismaele posted a new update on his Outpost Of Doom II with a review for Prometheus Experiment by Toranaga that is designed for ZDoom. Here is a small snip:
The first level is clearly a tech-base, whereas the second one looks like an hellish outpost, a sort of vestibule to the next level, that looks really like an imposing library with great details: here the Gothic theme rules.
Check out more of that and other Reviews over on Outpost Of Doom II.

 D3 In the Dark (v2.0 {Pack})
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 10:42 PM
Category: DOOM

If you like the dark and happen to also like Doom 3 and wouldn't mind the game being a bit more darker than normal, then check out D3 In the Dark (v2.0 {Pack}). However this new version of the mod is less dark than previous versions....
D3 In the Dark v2.0 is not as dark as previous versions, however, it remains on the spooky side of the scale. Dafama2K7 has removed all sources of light that are not textured lights, all of the actual lights remain. The light scale is raised about 2.5%.
That is all on Doom 3 Files.

 Paint Your Doom 3 With LDAD3 (v1.0)
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 8:36 AM
Category: DOOM

Head on over to Doom 3 Files and take a look at LDAD3 (v1.0) if you happen to like mods that change how Doom 3 looks. This one in particular does a recoloring job to the monsters, weapons and parts of the marine. Furthermore this works with both Doom 3 and Resurrection of Evil, plus it doesn't matter what version of the game you're running, this mod will work.

Dawn Of The Dead 50% Less Fat Than Other Mods
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 10:38 PM
Category: DOOM

According to the info on Doom 3 Files the Dawn of the Dead mod for Doom 3 will be made lighter than originally planned.
Its been a very long time since I posted anything involving the mod I've been working on. Sadly due to illness the mod has gone stale for a long time now. I'm now concentrating on mapping and will get as much done as I can and release whatever I have at the end of it.

 Shared Assets In S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 10:43 PM
Category: DOOM

I nearly forgot to mention this. Remember a few weeks ago when it was revealed that Doom 3 and Half-Life assets might be in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadows of Chernobyl? Well it's since been proven that the assets in question come from a shared source.
According to today's report, several of the textures found to have been shared between the three games were indeed confirmed to be included in various Marlin Studios texture packs. Amongst its clients, Marlin Studios lists Doom 3 publisher Activision, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. publisher THQ, and Half-Life 2 developer Valve Software.

 ReX Updates Doom Nexus
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 5:57 PM
Category: DOOM

ReX posted an update on his Doom Nexus site with the info about his work on Paranoid and From the Ashes of Fear.
In addition to mapping, I also spent some time creating a non-player character for Paranoid - one of the scientists in Half-Life. This one will be seen pondering something of seemingly great import on a computer monitor or white board, then occasionally wandering off to another location to ponder the imponderable again, before calling out a greeting to the player or other scientists.
Hit the Doom Nexus for the bigger picture on what ReX is doing.

 jHexen Diablo Style!
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 10:22 AM
Category: DOOM

skymarshall posted a thread on our forums right here that he turned jHexen into more of a diablo-style RPG.
I had a bit of spare time over christmas so decided to turn jHexen into more of a diablo-style RPG game with experience, level-ups and more importantly weapons that get visibly better as you play. Yes, this is a pretty tragic waste of time, but this is my first attempt at C coding outside of work and I'm pretty happy with the results.
You can grab the download from a link in his first post, plus you can view several screenshots. Thanks to Phoebus for pointing this out.

 SkullTag v97D Preview
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 11:21 PM
Category: DOOM

Over on the Skull Tag site, Torr Samaho posted a preview for version 97D that includes screenshots.
After some tests I realized, that the GZDoom renderer not only fixes many of the bugs (I knew that before) but also is MUCH faster than the ZGL one, I constantly get at least twice the FPS with it. So i thought, let's check if I can marry ST with GZD.
Expect Skulltag 97D to open up for public testing when it's ready! Oh yeah, check that out right here.

 Zen Dynamics Review
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 11:51 PM
Category: DOOM

Ismaele updated his Outpost Of Doom II with a review for Zen Dynamics by Xaser.
This .WAD is a 7 level set for GZDoom/ZDoom + 2 secret maps. The heavily exploited the special features of the port, making an awesome .WAD, different from the others. Instead of classical TITLEPIC, it features a sort of intro scene and levels are interconnected in a different way than usual. The .WAD has got a nice story, that is introduced as you begin playing by texts, e-mails between some characters and an intro scene and then it is nicely developed along the game; in fact, while playing you will know more.
Hit the Outpost Of Doom II and take a look at that review.

 Monolith 5 Revealed
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 8:38 PM
Category: DOOM

I was digging around and apparently Richard Wiles released a Doom 2, singleplayer map that's called Monolith 5.
This wad is not exclusive to any source port and was developed with zdoom. Designed for conventional play, i.e. NO JUMPING or other tricks otherwise you may not play the map as it was intended.
By the way, Richard contributed four maps to The Darkening Episode 2 and if you haven't played that, I suggest you do. Those wads are available thanks to the /id Games Database.

 Bombay Air Conditioning!
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:50 PM
Category: Hosted Sites

Sometimes you just have to do things yourself. I searched for news and found nothing, nada, squat, etc... so I figured what the hell, I'll update The Megawad, so that's what happened. Besides it's been awhile since I did anything to or on my site. I'm rambling.... Something about a new DM map in the works and I changed the name Bombay to UAC, just because there's no 'Bombay' textures in DooM. Maybe I should make them?

 Doom 3 Assets in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.?
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 8:25 AM
Category: DOOM

I was bored so I took a trip over to Shack News and noticed that they reported that it's a possibility that some Doom 3 and Half-Life 2 assets have been discovered in the recently released S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, however this has not been confirmed.
This week, threads have started showing up on various forums containing what appears to be evidence that GSC Game World's recently released shooter S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl makes use of a number of graphical assets taken directly from commercially released games such as Valve's Half-Life 2 and id Software's Doom 3. Many forum posters are speculating that the assets were used without authorization.
id Software's Todd Hollenshead was asked about this by Shacknews and here is his what he had to say about the matter:
I've seen a post on a web forum that claims DOOM3 assets are used in another game, but we've been working hard on Enemy Territory: Quake Wars as well as our own internal project and have not had the time to fully investigate or otherwise verify that the claim is true. Only from what I've seen on the Web, it's concerning. However, it may turn out to be nothing. Nevertheless, it would be improper to make any decision about a course of action until we find out whether the claim is true, and what assets from DOOM3, if any, have potentially been used.
Kinda a big surprise to find this posted on Shack News and I hope that this issue gets resolved....

No wait, just found this where you can just check out this topic where rebelcrow83 posted some screens of his Urban Prison level.  Shambler's Castle Review
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 1:46 PM
Category: DOOM

Doom Wad Station has a new review posted up for a Doom 3 mod that is called Shamblers Castle.
The environment is FABULOUS! I really love what these guys did here. They really put the engine to use and really made me feel as if I was trapped in this castle with all these hellish creatures who didn't want to let me out. It is a beautiful map and well worth the download just to see what can be done with some good Doom3 mapping skillz.
There's also an in-game video on the page, just so you know.
