 Desert Research Complex
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 10:52 PM
Category: DOOM

Desert Research Complex is a deathmatch level for Doom 3 and here is a bit of what the reviewer had to say about the map:
The use of hell decals I feel is somewhat overdone and there is bloody absolutely everywhere - that bit I don't mind, much. Lighting is sufficient to make it easy to see where you're going without detracting from the Doom feel. Texture wise it's all nicely done and I only saw a few brush/texture faults, nothing you'll notice during a DM however.
That's all on Doom 3 Files.

 Pathways Redux Revealed or Refound?
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 11:06 PM
Category: DOOM

Not much seems to be going on. So I did some digging and found this Doom 3, singleplayer mod that I never heard of before, which is called Pathways Redux. Looks like it was released awhile ago but now might be a good time to check it out:
Pathways Redux describes the events of a major nine-day crisis in 1994.

In the twilight hours of May 7, 1994, eight Special Forces operatives were paradropped into the Yucatan Peninsula. Seven safely landed and carried the nuclear bomb into the pyramid. Hours later, they ran out of bullets.
The mod is based on Pathways Into Darkness by Bungie.

 Skulltag Community Domination Project
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 12:00 AM
Category: DOOM

I wasn't aware of this but if your in need of some Skull Tag goodness you might want to check out this Skulltag Community Domination Project. You can read some of the development stuff in this Skulltag Forum Thread if your into reading that stuff.
Domination is a gamemode borrowed (or stolen!) from Unreal Tournament. In each map there are several Domination points. The object of the game is for your team to control these points. Your team gains 1 point for every 5 seconds for every domination point that is controlled. Frags do not matter whatsoever. The team that reaches the server pointlimit first is the winner.
Anyhow go forth and get that Skulltag Community Domination Project.

 Doom Wad Station Update
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 11:35 AM
Category: DOOM

Doom Wad Station was updated with some new stuff. First of all there's a new version of the Blood TC for Doom2. Next is a Doom 2 review for a map called River.
River City is full of monsters. The heart of the city is the fortress which you have to capture. Lots of problems getting the keys, especially the red one. Be sure to explore the level - you can actually get to every place you see.
That's all on Doom Wad Station.

 Time For Some Zombie Abuse
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 12:00 AM

Apparently if your tired of punching zombies in Doom 3 you can download this NoMercy's Fist Mod (1.0) and start kicking thier dead asses.
This mod adds 2 new animations that let you kick zombies as well as punch them! Just keep using your fists, Doom 3 will randomly choose an animation; e.g. if it picks the kicking animation, you'll be able to kick a zombie in the shin, balls, face etc!
Hit Doom 3 Files for that mod.

 GZDoom 1.0.04 Released
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 10:43 PM
Category: DOOM

I was lurking around and noticed that GZDoom 1.0.04 was released so you might want to downgrab the new release of the source port which was mainly updated to be better compatible with Phobia - The Age due to some FraggleScript buggers. Be aware that you may encounter a few glitches..
Due to this WAD I also added a new lighting mode which is closer to what Legacy is doing in GL mode. If you want to play Phobia you will probably have to use this mode because otherwise it will be way too dark in some areas.
Check out GZDoom.

Hard to dig up Doom news nowadays. Meanwhile Annihilation (3.2) was released which is a Doom 3 mod that includes new MP maps, no flares, theme song, new textures and other stuff.
And new from the Annihilation UAC workers... the T2 grenade!!! These babies duplicate themselves upon release so they duplicate into 4 grenades...3 go out and one stays in your hand so you can use it over and over again. Basically it's like having infinite grenades.
Yeah Doom 3 Files again.
