Category: DOOM

Nemesis found a youtube video for a Doom TC that is called Doom Caribbean: Life's a Beach which is based on the Duke Nukem addon of the same name (Duke Caribbean: Life's a Beach).
Also a sun burned Cyberdemon!
I guess it's worth a look.... I have no idea who made the TC or where you can get it.

 The Ruiner Update
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 7:09 PM
Category: DOOM

The Ruiner site was updated with a progress report and three new screenshots.
Thanks to real life and spending the extra time to improve the visuals of the mod, a spring or summer 2008 release is very realistic and achievable. After all the modeling has been finished, expect to start seeing a far more amount of news and media about the mod, including the long overdue trailer.
Hit The Ruiner site for more info and such.

 Dark Fate 2
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:34 PM
Category: DOOM

Karthik has delivered on his word that he would release a map on the weekend. It just turns out that I'm late noticing.... my bad. Anyhow here is Dark Fate 2, a short Doom 2 map. Also Karthik released a commentary video on the map, so check that out too.
I also made what I call a "commentary video" for the level. This is like Director's Commentaries which you find on DVDs — the video has me playing through Dark Fate 2 on my laptop and talking about it.
Hit karthik82 for that stuff.

 Edge 1.31-Beta 2 And Patch
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 7:56 PM
Category: DOOM

It's been awhile since I mentioned Edge but the port has seen a version 1.31-Beta 2 release in January and since an update to beta 2.
EDGE 1.31-Beta#2 has been updated to fix a fatal error when saving a game, mainly when starting the game from the new HOST-NET-GAME menu. Another problem causing multiple popup dialogs when the D: drive is a CDROM or DVD should also be fixed.
Read the changelog to see what is up with 1.31-Beta 2.

 Allied Marine Squadmates v6.uu
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 7:44 PM
Category: DOOM

Murph released an updated version (v6.uu) of the Allied Marine Squadmates mod for Doom 3 that was originally developed by Altroth Akenzie.
After many custom alterations, repairs and attempts at getting them just right, I am very happy to say, the Squadmates are back with a vengence! With all of the major bugs repaired, the "Squadmates v.6uu" are more stable and fun to use now! This new mod adds 12 much needed upgrades and has a *Bonus Mini-Mod!... I took this oppurtunity to build some new styles of Marines and added them to the now extended "Allied Marine Squadmates v.6uu" family! There are the Marines of the "Hybrid Elite: Team" who come on board with a new "Team" weapon and also the Marines of "Bravo Team - Melee Warriors" ready for some real action packed fun!
So if you need or want some backup during Doom 3, then check on this mod thanks to Doom 3 Files.

Doom 2 Remix Project For Doomsday
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 6:30 PM
Category: General

Here is something interesting that appeared on our forum when Take One posted that he's been working on remixing the entire Doom 2 soundtrack in a pack for Doomsday, which isn't finished yet. However he has provided links to the tracks he's worked on, all of which can be downloaded. I'm liking his version of The Crusher.... pretty cool stuff. There's also some bonus tracks, so check those out too. Rock on!

 Uber Shotgun
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:45 PM
Category: DOOM

Here is a shotgun mod that is called Uber Shoti which gives you a under and over shotgun that can be fired twice thus allowing four shots before reload, plus it has a skinned black leather grip.
Once you have installed this Mod, you'll notice a new, mean looking weapon in your hands...your double-barrel shotgun will act like an over-and-under double-barrel shotgun; In short, this Mod will allow you to fire twice before needing to reload! Effectively doubling your damage potential!
Yep Doom 3 Files!

 GreenTech Revival
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:40 PM
Category: DOOM

Apparently Gyppi is no longer working on that GreenTech mod for Doom 3 so Dafama2K7 has taken up the reins, so to speak. The mod hasn't seen an update since 2005, so here is GreenTech v1.3 which includes new shaders, particles and fx.
GreenTech is a graphic mod developed for Doom3 that enhances your gaming experience with new graphic effects never seen before in Doom!
Hit Doom 3 Files and get some GreenTech v1.3 and also the Resurrection of Evil version ---> GreenTech v1.3 RoE.

 Report On Vilecore 2
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 10:05 PM
Category: DOOM

Here I go again, pimping my own site in the news. So hit The Megawad because I have a basic progress report on Vilecore 2 that includes an in-editor comparison screenie of Map07: Demonic Outpost that shows the original level and the Vilecore 2 version with some specs on there. Not a big update, just some info and the fact that I'm still working on it.... taking my time but currently working steady. Ok time for my snacks....

 Suddenly There Was A Hellgate
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:10 PM
Category: DOOM

Apparently this Hellgate map has been around for awhile but is new to Doom 3 Files and I checked our news archive and don't see it mentioned anywhere, so I'm doing so now. The map is made for singleplayer in Doom 3 and is designed by Tombery.
The story of this map is somewhat unique, you are traveling to an unknown destination when you happen across a rather large drifting space faring vessel; You investigate the apparent ghost ship to determine the reason behind the missing crew members, and find what Hellgate is all about...
Hit Doom 3 Files for that Hellgate level.

Tormentor 667 posted a screenshot if you want to investigate. I'm off to catch some beauty sleep.....

 Zombie Slayer Resurrected?
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:54 PM
Category: DOOM

I didn't notice this Zombie Slayer mod before (or my memory chip is failing) but apparently it found it's way into the latest PC Gamer 'Zombie' edition of the mag. Thing is, BHenderson was on the verge of canceling work on the mod after the first demo was released and now it looks like he is back into working on it. By the way, he is looking for help with the site design.... so maybe somebody is willing? Anyhow go visit Zombie Slayer and grab the demo if you haven't already.

 Daemonic Martello 1024
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 8:49 PM
Category: DOOM

If you walk on over to Wads In Progress you'll discover that Damned released Daemonic Martello 1024. The map is made for ZDoom and is Doom 2, singleplayer.
I found a fragment of this map on my HDD and have managed to finished it. It started as 1024map with massive use of gothic textures. But finally the 1024 will be only one half of the map. The second half will break the 1024 concept a little...
Hit Wads In Progress and downgrab some Daemonic Martello 1024.
