Over on Doom 3 Files the featured mod is the NightMare Mod (v0.4 Alpha) which is designed for Doom 3. Last time I mentioned this mod it wasn't released yet.If you're after a download that will increase the scare-factor of your Doom III game, then look no further! This mod has been in production almost as long as Doom III has been out, and it shows, the eye-candy of the NightMare Mod is something that has to be seen...and more importantly, played to be appreciated! Dafama2K7 released MaxGfx (v1.2) which is one of those mods that tweaks the various graphics in Doom 3.i was lookig a long time for a modification which contains the best visual,sound,gameplay effects for the game, but i didn't find it! so i decided to make it by myself. i've tested nearly every mod which was published and took the best in my opinion together. This is the result of it. This version includes parallax shaders, fixed flashlight, changed zombie heads and skins and other stuff. That mod is available thanks to Doom 3 Files.

Over on Doom 3 Files there's a mod called Reaper's Marines Corp that changes the skins for the Doom 3 marines in the game and the mod was designed by ReaperPL.

If you hit Gamasutra they have a small interview posted where they talk to John Carmack about the state of PC gaming.Historically, the real value of PC has been in connectivity, and in modification… but the latest generation of consoles is encroaching on that territory with all the options you’ve got on current consoles, the connectivity and the add-ons and things you can get there. Aliotroph? just pointed this Hell On Earth Sound site to me. I've never seen the place before and it hasn't been updated since July 2006, however there a number of Doom songs in mp3 format that you can downgrab which are tributes to the originals. You can find the downloads via the Mod section.

Mr Rocket finished his latest deathmatch level and unleashed it so we all could kill each other in a frenzy of Doom.I called it Megadeth because I was listening to the band "Megadeth" almost the whole time I was creating it. ;) It's a medium size map, sort of a arena/castle type of layout, and (very red in color). So go forth and grab Megadeth over on The Megasphere.

Over on The Dark Mod site theres an update concerning maps. Fidcal made a small level to go along with a mapping guide on the wiki and Pinkdot produced a galleon that is a combo of brushes and models. Hit the screenshots page for the latest screens.

Dafama2K7 has been busy again with the release of Vortex_NG (v3.2). The Doom 3 mod changes the BFG to work like the Dark Material Gun in Quake 4 and the hellkinights throw zombies and other characters... Also the fat zombie will now throw objects like barrels and chairs. That's on Doom 3 Files and I'm off!

If you hit Doom 3 Files and look around, you'll notice that Dafama2K7 released version 2.6 of the Pet Mod for Doom 3. The mod allows you to spawn a pet demon to fight alongside you, plus you can give them various commands. You can downgrab the mod right here and get the Resurrection of Evil version right here. GameDaily put up an article that reveals that id Software and Fountainhead Partner to Create id Mobile.id Software and Fountainhead Entertainment have announced that they have come together to create a new division of id Software, simply called id Mobile. The two developers have previously worked together on Orcs & Elves, Orcs & Elves II and Doom RPG. Orcs & Elves was the 2006 Interactive Achievement Awards Mobile Game of the Year.
Fountainhead Entertainment Founder and former Director of Business Development at id Software, Katherine Anna Kang, will serve as president of id Mobile. The studio will develop games for cell phones and portables such as DS and PSP. Currently in the pipeline at id Mobile is a mobile version of Wolfenstein as well as a follow-up to the successful Doom RPG. Check out: id Software and Fountainhead Partner to Create id Mobile.

I just spotted that GZDoom 1.0.29 is released.The most notable addition are ZDoom's custom skill definitions. There's also some bugfixes from the latest ZDoom SVN version and slight improvements to the model code thanks to Torr Samaho from the Skulltag team. Check out some GZDoom.

I was just on Andy Leavers Doom Projects and the news is that Andy released a deathmatch level called Rise of the Scorned that is designed for ZDoom. Also theres some news on Community Chest 3 and the beta testing is still going on and it shouldn't be long before the megawad gets unleashed. Oooh yeah, if you want that DM map, just go right here.

Over on Doom 3 Files I noticed Last Man Standing Coop (v3.5) was released.Last Man Standing Coop Mod is a Doom 3 Coop Single Player and Multiplayer modification that aims to bring back the classic Doom experience. The LMS Mod gametype is survival in nature where you face swarms of attacking monsters to the adrenaline pumping energy of heavy metal soundtracks. This mod also fully supports Single Player Cooperative play through the SP Coop gametype. Also the Doom 3 expansion pack is supported through the ROE coop gametype and the Classic Doom for Doom 3 Mod is supported through the gametype Cdoom Coop. Check that out on Doom 3 Files.

Apparently the results of the Odamex October contest have been posted on the site.All of the entries in the contest were solid and judging results were very close. However, only one can win and this time the first place crown goes to Hobomaster22! Congrats to Hobomaster22. So go grab the map and expect a server running the wad in rotation to be up soon, if it isn't already. Also they plan to run more contests, so think about that, if you happen to be into that kind of stuff.

Ralphis updated the Odamex site with the info that version 0.3 of the port was released. Some of the new features are:- Lots of internal optimizations.
- Improved doom2.exe demo playback and regression testing materials.
- Improved server console and administration functions.
- Odamex.wad is now built on 100% free resources.
- Capture the Flag sounds added.
- Wallhack parameter added to disable it (currently improves playability).

Karthik Checks Out ReX's Latest Work

Go on over to karthik82 because crazy cool Karthik went and checked out ReX's From the Ashes of Fear and here is a snip of what he has to say about it:It's a pretty big map and has lots of large, open areas and some dark, claustrophobic areas. I love the way he used lighting to create atmosphere (one of the screenshots above, for example), and the greyish tech-base look I would say is "typical" of ReX (rather, it's what I associate with his work, from whatever levels of his I've played). Dafama2K7 released version 2.7 of his singleplayer mod, TinMan NG.This version comes with a small fix, the zombies are able to resurrect. For those of you that have not yet played this mod, you don't know what you're missing! How many of you prefer to play single-player maps, but miss the backup that teamates offer in those hairy battles? This new version includes smarter demons, fixed decals for weapons, ZSecs with Bravo Team models & skins, etc... Jump onto Doom 3 Files for more info and such.
