The Into Cerberon: Descent Into Doom mod team has a small video file uploaded that shows a concussion missile exiting one of the launch tubes on a Pyro GX. By the way, I checked it out myself and it does look pretty nifty.

 Congestion 1024 Released
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 11:27 AM
Category: DOOM

Lutrov71 posted in this thread that the Congestion 1024 project has been released.
It is a 32 level megawad of levels no bigger than 1024 X 1024. Some maps have areas outside the 1024 X 1024 block but they are not part of the playing area. It should run on most limit removing ports. Just use Boom or Zdoom to be safe.
So hit this thread and get the download from there.

 Megasphere Facelift
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 1:59 PM
Category: General

Mr_Rocket went and updated his site with a new facelift and even changed the name from Mr.Rocket's Megasphere to Megasphere.
After receiving an e-mail from Adam Pedersen -AKA founder/sysop of the Megasphere BBS back when DooM was DooM and your computer would need upgrading to play it, a few days ago I decided to give this old website a facelift of sorts after a long over due yet inspiring convo with him. First I decided I will remove my name from the logo, change the site's color theme to sorta match where the Megasphere BBS woulda left off, we decided that the theme of Mega2 would be fitting.
Also note that Mr-Rocket set up a cool chat program that resembles the old skool Megasphere BBS chat dealie but also has voice, video, file transfer, web browser, and games. Soooo check that out!! Check out the new Megasphere.

All Eyes On Dawn Of The Dead
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 10:46 PM
Category: DOOM

I just noticed that the Dawn Of The Dead mod site for Doom 3 was updated and they added a bunch of info on thier mod page (I think the mod page is new as well).
As you can see we have a huge amount of code done, alot of artwork in the mod in the form of textures, models and sounds, 7 weapons and recently a dynamic crosshair that shrinks and grows when the player moves that lowers the player's accuracy (I'm pretty sure...hand on heart that NO-OTHER Doom3 mod has that feature or a few other features that are working in this little mod..though I could be completely wrong). I still feel we have been unnoticed :(
Check out Dawn Of The Dead.

HeXen: Edge Of Chaos Lives On
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 11:26 PM
Category: DOOM

Apparently the HeXen: Edge Of Chaos TC is still alive and kicking and they plan on building a renewed website this Winter when they kick into a new development phase.
This winter we will enter a new phase of development, that last mile so to speak. That's the part where everything comes together; a major milestone for us. That's why we've decided to launch a renewed website when that time comes with *much* more info about the TC and in depth media releases in terms of a teaser trailer, a gameplay video (theatrical trailer) and a technical features video (techdemo) as well as other media releases such as a web-sdk with wallpapers and other goodies.
Check out the HeXen: Edge Of Chaos site for more info.

 Doom RPG Review On GameShark
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 2:26 PM
Category: General

GameShark geared up a Doom RPG Review. If you were living under a rock and didn't notice, the game is designed for mobile phones.
Since DOOMers are used to the fast paced run and gun action that DOOM always featured, they may find that this game starts a little slow. When you first start out, you spend some time getting used to the controls and talking to people to get your bearings straight. Soon enough however, you’re right in the thick of battle fighting for your life. If you are familiar with regular RPG games, then you will be at ease with the game play style. As you move through the facility, one step at a time, you will encounter obstacles such as puzzles to solve, jammed doors, fires, locked doors that need the retro colored key cards to pass or pass codes that can be found in computers.
Check out that Doom RPG Review.

Resurrection Of Evil On XBox Review
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 10:25 AM
Category: DOOM

There is an Xbox version of a Doom 3: Resurrection Of Evil Review that was posted up recently by Gaming Excellence.
Well, RoE tries something different by throwing you to the wolves right off the bat. The effect is disorienting and feels very canned. There’s no sense of setting either and I wondered for a long time if I was even on Mars to begin with.
That's all on Gaming Excellence.

 New Design For JFiles
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 8:43 AM
Category: General

A little bird flew in the window and let me know that JFiles was updated with a new design and the most exciting bit (or so I'm told) is the file manager.
Now you can register and upload your own pk3's, ded's, wad's etc into a publicly viewable download database.
Also there's a IRC chat applet that connects to the official Doomsday IRC channel, so go check all that stuff out.

 Doom 3 Case Mod
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:18 AM
Category: DOOM

Jason 'Face.uk' Sloan dropped me a message about this cool Doom 3 Computer Case Mod that is on The Best Case Scenario. I posted about this mod before, although I'm sure it was on a different forum and it appears that the modder has done a lot on the case mod since, especially on the base. Just the same, it's a very cool case mod and if you haven't checked it out before, now would be a good time.

Is Resurrection Of Evil On Xbox Worthplaying?
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 12:42 PM
Category: DOOM

Worthplaying posted up a Resurrection Of Evil Review for the XBox version of the game.
Graphically, Resurrection of Evil is one of the most beautiful looking games I have seen on the Xbox. (Can you really use the term beautiful when the things being rendered are so demonic and hideous?) The truth behind the beauty in Resurrection of Evil lies in the design more than the billions of polygons, particle effects, or even the texture maps. These design elements are what set it apart; like the way shadows dance across the walls as a flashing red alarm casts its lurid glow or the way a pistol-mounted flashlight pierces just enough of the darkness to make it seem like something must be hiding there.
Take a look at the rest of that Resurrection Of Evil Review.

 Into Cerberon
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 12:00 AM
Category: DOOM

I was going to news this Doom 3 mod before but thier site was down. Into Cerberon is designed to add the six-degrees-of-freedom action of Descent to Doom 3.
The goal of Into Cerberon is to make a new game that feels like Descent. As in, if we sit a Descent player down at a copy of IC, then they should go, "Yeah, this is Descent".

Generally speaking the Doom 3 engine lets us do a lot more than any of the Descent engines ever could, and that means a lot of improvements as well as removing some old crutches (like circular bounding boxes for the ships).
Check out Into Cerberon.

 Enhanced Militarized Zone 1.2
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 10:19 PM
Category: DOOM

I noticed a Doom 3, gameplay tweaking mod over on pcgamemods.com that is called Enhanced Militarized Zone 1.2.
In previous versions of EMZ the features were mostly those that made server admins' lives better. With EMZ 1.2 the focus has been very much on features that a visible to the players. We think it rocks. We hope you do too.
For more info check out Enhanced Militarized Zone 1.2.

Resurrection Of Evil For Xbox Review
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 2:26 PM
Category: DOOM

Take a walk over to Boomtown where they posted up a review for Resurrection Of Evil on the Xbox. Here is a shot from the review:
The artefact serves to highlight one of several new additions to Doom III’s gameplay that ultimately make playing Resurrection of Evil a much more engaging experience. And while the artefact may be bullet time in disguise it shows Nerve’s got the balls to change things.

Doom Movie Bombs Itself To Hell
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 3:03 PM
Category: Other Stuff

Over on ActionTrip they have a blurb about the Doom Movie bombing out.
Executives at Universal Pictures are mystified this weekend after box office returns showed the gross for the "Doom" movie declined by roughly around 73%, from $15 million to a relatively puny $4 million.
Check out the bomb. Haahaa, I didn't even bother to go see the film. Lets make a Doom Movie with no Hell....pfffftt. Stupid. Next up, the Quake 4 Movie where there's no Stroggos and the Strogg all come from a can of beans that mutates after being hit by a meteor containing alien bacteria.
