 Crypt Of Madness
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 10:24 PM
Category: DOOM

The ever-burning Mr Rocket updated his shiny Megasphere with a release of a deathmatch map that he calls Crypt of Madness.
This one has a symmetrical layout something like the Paradox dm map I made a few years back and turned it into a CTF map. Crypt of Madness has the same potential for CTF as well so I'll probably do that later on. As is though It's setup to be a fast paced DM suited for 2-4 players but roomy enough for more.
Hit the Megasphere!

 New Section On Realm 667
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 10:37 AM
Category: DOOM

One thing is for sure, Tormentor 667 keeps his site maintained and I wish more Doomers would do the same. If you hit Realm 667 today, you'll see that he added a new section to the site that is called The Selection which is where Tormentor will add the levels he really likes. Also in the works is a level called Apocalypse and a promise of screenshots and a download sometime down the road. So jump on Realm 667 to see what is going on.

So anyways, that is good news and we will have to wait to see the new site and what gets released in 2008.

Site is dedicated to collecting and preserving all of the source-ports related information - files, fixes, resources, textures, models and so on. I'm also trying to provide an each port with illustrative amount of screenshots and more or less informative installation/configuration instructions and recommendations.

Are You Too Scared To Download This?
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 7:37 PM
Category: General

Zakyrus released his NightMare Mod (v0.4 Alpha) that is supposed to increase the scare factor while playing Doom 3.
Aside from the normal occurrences of monsters that you will encounter, Zakyrus has also placed some random triggers that enable an unexpected monster spawn. Now monsters could appear behind you or from anywhere for that matter! To add a bit of uncertainty to your gaming experience, there are a lot more things in this mod to freak you out, like picking up an item or armour or crossing a new and evil trigger will cause a random monster spawn.
Whether it works in making you more scared or not is up to you. Anyhow that mod is on Doom 3 Files.

Also he states that the next version of Eternity will have a new renderer that he wrote, which he calls cardboard! When his work is complete, the project will under go beta testing, after which the project will be released. So its getting closer and closer..Well thats all for now..Laters.

In Hell - Directors Cut (v1.1)
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 10:41 PM
Category: DOOM

Over on Doom 3 Files you can downgrab In Hell - Directors Cut (v1.1), which is a mod that contains new levels (SP and MP), new sounds, music, graphics, weapons tweaks and more.
Doomi has done some great work on this new In Hell release, including the addition of maps, tweaks to the maps, better balancing, and some work to the performance issues. If you're new to the whole In Hell mod...what it is, and what this version does is it removes the flashlight, but you get infinite stamina; Referring to PDAs for messages is no longer necessary. The most important objective is to get out of the forecourt of hell, in which you are captured. Sounds easy, eh?
Now would be a good time to check out In Hell - Directors Cut (v1.1).

 Robotech FirstGen WIP Release
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:36 AM
Category: DOOM

Lobo updated with the news that he has released the WIP of his Robotech: FirstGen project.
This is a Work In Progress (WIP): What that boils down to is that it is a copy of what I have done up to now and is more of a developer version than anything else. In other words... Expect bugs! Expect rough edges!
Hit the Robotech: FirstGen site fore more info and the downgrab.

This release makes the mod compatible with the Steam version of Doom 3 and if you want to run the improved mod with the Windows version of Doom 3 then you'll need to downgrab the Doom 3, 1.3.1 patch.  Wrinkles In Time
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 10:14 PM
Category: DOOM

Apparently Andy Leavers Doom Projects has been given a new look and Community Chest 3 is still being worked on. So while Andy smooths out the site wrinkles, CC3 is getting the same treatment. Basically that is all that seems to be going on lately. Over and out...

 Into Cerberon Update
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 12:26 AM
Category: DOOM

The Into Cerberon site was updated and I missed it. Seems that in September they reported they gained a techno artist named Verran.
His music will likely be featured in ic_mine and ic_damp in IC004, and we'll be looking in to implementing some kind of jukebox or music-rotation system to support our somewhat lopsided number of musicians.
Check out Into Cerberon.

 Wonderfull Doom
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:08 PM
Category: DOOM

Here is one of those remake style of wads that is based on the first Doom but this one includes all the episodes including the 4th, so basically we have here a remake (from scratch) of Ultimate Doom. So check out Wonderfull Doom by Wraith.
I just wanted all doomers to play First Doom one more time. All levels are similar in design and difficulty to originals, but are constructed from zero(no ctrl-c/ctrl-v, not even one time). Please, do not accept this wad as plagiarism, it`s rather an alternative to various Mood/Randoom-type things..
That wad is available thanks to /id Games.

 Just-Doom (Demo2)
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 7:34 AM
Category: DOOM

programmer_beta released Just-Doom (Demo2) for Doom 3. The mod is designed for SP and ummmm here is some explanation:
The story begins with a return to Mars and everything is alright for years, but then it happended! The gateway to hell opened by itself! But why? It becomes evident that the demons now have the technology now to open portals to other dimensions....something that nobody knew about on Earth. Because all transmissions have ceased, HQ decided to send a recon team to Mars to get answers; You have survived the intense fighting and near death experiences of the first installment, now it's time to save and examine the artifacts....this is where you come in now, will you survive!?
Apparently there was a first part and a third is coming sometime. Hit Doom 3 Files for that Just-Doom (Demo2).

 Expanse Resumed
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 7:29 PM
Category: DOOM

Hmmm not much is going on lately, besides DooMAD started working on Expanse again, which is a Legacy map with lots of snazzy 3D floor stuffs.
K, I'll admit work didn't last very long during the previous attempt, but I've re-resumed again now, heh. Hopefully I'll stay with it a little longer this time. The project began in September 2005, over two years ago now, so I'd really like to finish it at some point.
If you want to have a look at it, them hit this thread on our forum.
